Novak DjokovicIt is very difficult to get a dream final in a Grand Slam but if ever there is one, it has to when Roger Federer takes on Novak Djokovic for the 2015 US Open crown on Sunday evening. It will go down as one of the best, even before a ball is served.

The rivalry of these two impeccable players is one for the records. Federer is the only guy to have beaten Djokovic in each of the four Grand Slams and likewise Djokovic is the only guy to have beaten Federer in each of the four Slams. While Federer is the most popular player wherever he goes, Djokovic is the undisputed world number 1.

Federer looked at the peak of his form throughout the tournament. He is yet to lose a set and his serve is looking pretty difficult to be mastered. His performance in the semis is one for the archives. Federer demolished his countryman Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. The masterclass is enough to give him confidence ahead of the final.

Djokovic may want to have a different say altogether. The Serb is the player of the season having reached all the Grand Slam finals this year. It was only Wawrinka at the French Open who stopped him.

Even at the Flushing Meadows, Djokovic exhibited his trademark tennis – hard, battling and tenacious. The semi-final demolition of defending champion Marin Cilic should give goose bumps to any neutral fan. With a score of 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 Djokovic made everyone wonder if he is playing a novice.

It was only Feliciano Lopez in the quarter-final who troubled the top seed. The Spaniard showed that serve and volley is the template to push him to the corner. But, Djokovic made sure that the trouble never gained bigger propositions. This is one of the hallmarks of how he can come out of difficult matches and still win them.

Federer may be the underdog coming into the final but Djokovic has shown that he has mastered the Swiss in the recent past. The loss at Cincinnati notwithstanding, the Serb should add his third Grand Slam of the year. Back him at odds of $1.75 at Sportsbet.
