NRL Round 22 ‘Pick of the Week’

This week on Sunday Arvo Football we have the Newcastle Knights battling the Sydney Roosters. Historically the Roosters have dominated the Knights with 21 victories from the 33 matches played. As a Knights Home game, Hunter Stadium will host this one. Will the Knights Be the hunters or the hunted?

Last week the Knights had a huge first Half, then suffered a demoralising loss to the Dragons who played a 32-4 half. Looking to this week the Knights can be positive about the returns of Tariq Sims, who is a massive in for their back row. Youth seems the new game plan for the Knights with a new young sibling duo Daniel and Jacob Safiti. They’ll be interesting to watch.
Defensively the Knights are struggling. Both Sione Mata’utia and Carlos Tuimavave haven’t performed in defence this season and offensively Carlos Tuimavave has contributed but not enough.

The Rooster are simply stronger and faster than the Knights. They slipped on the right side last week allowing 4 tries. We should see the Roosters new right side duo Blake Ferguson and Shaun Kenny-Dowall as they find their defensive form this week. Sam Moa will miss this one after a freak wrist dislocation last weekend. Isaac Liu will replace him from the bench. Last week the Bulldogs put up a huge game but fell short.

Consistently the Roosters put up huge numbers, averaging just under 30 points per game in their last 4. The Roosters are a power house. Half their team is built of representative players and they’ll send the Knights running scared. The Rooster will appreciate a easier match, but their confidence won’t make them sloppy they’ll be prepared for battle.
