NRL Round 16 ‘Pick of the Week’
The Bet King’s NRL betting ‘Pick of the Week’ for Round 16 will see us once again utilise the enhanced favourite special from Ladbrokes
This will mark the 30th time these two sides have faced off. Parramatta have 13 wins, the Dragons have 14 and there’s two ties in the book. Last time they met was Round 10 last season when the Eels slayed the Dragons 36-0.
This season has been tough for Parramatta with a slew of injuries. This round’s no exception. Injury will see Kaysa Pritchard, Reece Robinson, Anthony Watmough and Nathan Peats all on the sideline. Coach Brad Arthur has spiced things up with a new look spine featuring Corey Norman at Fullback, Cody Nelson debuting at Hooker and Luke Kelly and Chris Sandow as the halves pairing. This constant re-shuffling isn’t doing them any favours, yet their left side is still one of the strongest in the competition with Semi Radradra who has scored 11 tries in eight appearances this season.
The Dragons will field the same team sas last week, and despite their gut wrenching loss on Monday night against the Rooster, they enter this game as the favourite.
It’s easy to see why the Dragons are sitting 3rd on the ladder after 13 games with their defensive players racking up a staggering 97% effective tackle percentage and slightly better than that Mike Cooper has a staggering 98.5% effectiveness from the 431 tackles he’s made.
Benji Marshall, meanwhile, is firing on all cylinders, easily in his best form since returning from Union. He’s looking a good bet for the Dally M at $17-1.
We see this game as pretty one sided. The Dragons are in form and ready to reign fire down on the Eels. Statistically they lock up in defence and only allow 13 points per game. The Eels concede 24 point per game and have a tendency to fall away in the second half.
This week’s Parramatta re-shuffle won’t be enough to overcome Benji and his men. Look for a high scoring one sided affair.
