India vs Australia 5th ODI Betting Tips

October 1, 2017 by Posted in Cricket Tips

Finch WarnerIt has been an arduous ODI series for the visitors so far as India proved their upper hand with consistent performances in the first four matches. The Aussies, though, did win the fourth match at Bengaluru to raise hopes of finishing the series on a high in the dead rubber. The final match of the India vs Australia ODI series is scheduled to be played at Nagpur on Sunday, October 1.

Australia have enough reasons to feel that they should have won at least another match in the series. Collapses with the bat and lapses in the field – captain Steven Smith has shelled four catches – ended in poor returns for the Aussies.

With another flat track awaiting them in Nagpur and their quicks in good form, Australia hope for another good performance to lend respectability to the series score line.

Another game for the bench warmers?

One reason for India’s loss in the previous match is their decision to rest their regular bowlers. With the series already pocketed, Kohli may stick to his guns and keep testing the bench resources. KL Rahul is available for selection but Kohli will have a tough choice to bench one of his regular middle-order batsmen.

The biggest positive for Kohli is the emergence of Hardik Pandya as his prime all-rounder lending stability with both bat and ball. To be fair, he was the difference between winning and losing for India in at least three of the matches so far.

Australia need to keep winning

The return of Aaron Finch seems to have energized the visitors as even David Warner stormed back to form at Bengaluru. All that remains now is to arrest their frequent middle-order collapses and Smith’s hopes of finishing stronger will be proven right.

With the ball, the pace-bowling stocks have been in cracking form. That, in a way, has covered for the poor performances of their spinners.

Key Statistics

Nagpur is a huge example of “win the toss and bowl first”. Of the seven matches that are played in this stadium, five wins are achieved by those bowling first. For India, four matches have seen two wins and two losses in Nagpur.

The odds on Australia’s win have reduced considerably well after they have won in the match at Bengaluru. The Kangaroos are primed to win at odds of $2.20 at Ladbrokes while the pick on India’s win comes at odds of $1.66 at Ladbrokes. The value looks with the Aussies so we’ll back the visitors to win.

His ability to find sixes almost at will has made Pandya the darling of Indian audience this summer. Back him to continue the trend by scoring at least one six at odds of $1.57 at Ladbrokes.

Finch has been in cracking form in the last two matches and should once again be the main guy for Smith’s men. You can back him at odds of $1.83 at Ladbrokes to score over 33.5 runs.
