The 145th Open Championship heads back to the home of golf in Scotland. Royal Troon golf club in Ayrshire will host the event for the 9th time. The first time was back in 1923 and the last time was in 2004. Strangely an American has lifted the Claret Jug the last six times at Royal Troon. Those winners included Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson.

The course itself is a traditional seaside links course. However, it is unique in the fact it’s home to both the longest and shortest holes in Open Championship golf.
The 8th hole named postage stamp is the shortest at just 112 meters and the 6th hole named Turnberry is the longest at 601 yards or 549 meters.
The most important aspect of playing well at Royal Troon will be Driving. Considering a lot of the par 4’s will be reachable (depending on wind direction) a big advantage will be driving distance and accuracy.
The weather forecast is for scattered showers and intermediate winds. However, the winds will be magnified on the coastline.
