English Premier League: Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview

September 19, 2015 by Posted in Betting Tips, Soccer Tips

MourinhoChelsea host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 19th September in an exciting English Premier League encounter. The history between the two managers makes it much more engrossing as we take a look in our soccer betting tips article.

Jose Mourinho is in the midst of a woeful start to the season for Chelsea. The defending champions are yet to find any form this season. They come into the match from back-to-back league defeats to Crystal Palace and Everton. With just four points from five matches so far, the Blues have equaled the worst start by a defending champion.

Mourinho will not have the injured pair Willian and Pedro available for this clash. There are doubts on the availability of Oscar too. Thibaut Courtois is also out while there is a cloud of uncertainty on Radamel Falcao. The midweek Champions League win over minnows Maccabi Tel-Aviv would have given much needed confidence to the beleaguered Blues.

Although it is early in the season, any further loss could be fatal to the title ambitions of Mourinho leaving them 14 points behind Manchester City. And it is well known that the Portuguese tactician wouldn’t want to give an inch to Arsene Wenger.

Though Arsenal is better placed than Chelsea so far, a loss at Stamford Bridge will mean that much difficulty in chasing the leaders. After the opening day loss to West Ham, Wenger found his team getting back to rhythm. He would be desperate for the Gunners to continue the run and break his duck against Mourinho in Premier League.

Wenger hasn’t defeated Mourinho in 10 Premier League attempts although he got his first victory over him at the Community Shield early this season. Arsenal’s preparations are not ideal, though. They suffered a midweek 2-1 upset at Dinamo Zagreb. Olivier Giroud confirmed critics’ doubts on his ability to be a top-class striker and also got sent off.

Chelsea has an impressive record against Arsenal having won four and drawn three of their last seven meetings. For both the managers the stakes are really high between two of the greatest managerial foes in Premier League.

Chelsea is surprisingly below-par so far this season but Mourinho will be desperate to avoid a loss against his bête noire Wenger. But, Wenger wouldn’t want to cede any extra ground to Mourinho. We’ll back this game to be a Draw at odds of $3.15 at CrownBet.
