England v West Indies Test Series Betting Tips

Sri Lanka’s proud home record took a beating as they were thrashed 3-0 in the Test series by India. They now have a chance to regroup and regain some of the lost pride in the five-match ODI series starting at Dambulla on Sunday, August 20th.

Will change of format suit the hosts?
The series marks the first full series as regular captain for Upul Tharanga. The stylish left-hander has to lift the dressing room quickly although this is one format that should suit the Lankans.

The hosts have a number of hard-hitters in its ranks with the likes of Niroshan Dickwella and Dhanushka Gunathilaka leading their batting. Angeloa Mathews still holds the key in the middle overs while the slew of all-rounders adds panache to their final overs’ charge.

With the ball, it has to be the return of Lasith Malinga that should count as the biggest positive.

Can the stop the sauntering visitors?
The change of format should work for India too as they welcome back their white-ball specialists into the fold after missing the West Indies tour. Rohit Sharma should take his place at the top back while Jasprit Bumrah promises to be a handful at both ends of an innings.

With an eye on the 2019 World Cup, India are looking to test an aggressive-looking middle order in this series. Manish Pandey and KL Rahul will look to recapture the hitting that epitomised MS Dhoni in the past while the ‘keeper himself looks to answer the critics back in his own style.

Bowling too will have a lot of experimentation as Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja sit out of the series giving chance for the youngsters Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sri Lanka have 55 wins and 83 losses in 150 matches against India. At home, the record is more favourable with 27 wins and 23 losses in 56 matches. India won the last three series in Sri Lanka and have a 11-3 record in the last 14 encounters.

Sri Lanka come into the series having lost to Zimbabwe 3-2 at home. Their record in the last 12 months reads eight wins and 16 losses in 26 matches while in the same period India won 11 and lost six in 18 matches. India’s recent series saw them win 3-1 against West Indies after ending as finalists at the Champions Trophy.

India start as overwhelming favourites for the series but Sri Lanka at home can be formidable. It promises to be a tight series and the score-line could be 3-2 in favour of the visitors – odds of $3.75 (bet365).

TIP: India to win 3-2 – $3.75 at bet365

Virat Kohli is one of the most accomplished batsmen of this format and should relish scoring runs against one of his favourite opponents. Back him at odds of $3.75 (bet365) to be the top batsman for India in the series. For Sri Lanka, it could be Dickwella at odds of $5 (bet365).

TIP: Dickwella most runs for Sri Lanka – $5 at bet365

With the ball, Kuldeep had a great series against West Indies and should continue in the same vein. Back him at odds of $4.50 (bet365) to be their best bowler.

TIP: Kuldeep most wickets for India – $4.50 at bet365
