Cricket Betting: Trans-Tasman T20 Tri Series Preview
Australia, New Zealand, and England are ready to start a new chapter in the annals of T20 international cricket. The first-ever Tri-Series T20I tournament will be played in the Antipodes starting from February 3rd.
Each side will face the remaining two sides twice, with the round-robin matches shared between the trans-Tasman neighbours. With a chance to lay the marker in this unique tournament, all the sides will look to put their best foot forward! See our preview and tips for the series below!
Australia – a new beginning
It is indeed a new beginning for the national T20 side. The Test stars are phased out and the success stories from the Big Bash have been given priority. With the likes of Chris Lynn, Alex Carey, and Glenn Maxwell at his expense, captain David Warner will hope to bring his captaincy charm to the fore.
Bowling too is strong with Billy Stanlake, Kane Richardson, and Andrew Tye very experienced with their T20 stuff. For once, the Aussies will feel confident about the format and look to do better than their ranking (seventh).
Odds to win series: $2.75 at William Hill
New Zealand – a chance to assert supremacy
The Black Caps have historically revelled in being underdogs, but this time around they have to make do with the favourites tag. Colin Munro and Martin Guptill will be a handful to any bowling attack while captain Kane Williamson is a run-machine in any format!
Bowling will be about the swing duo Tim Southee and Trent Boult, although in Ish Sodhi they have one of the top-ranked bowlers of this format! Throw in all-rounders like Colin de Grandhomme and Mitchell Santner, it is easy to see why the Black Caps are confident!
Odds to win series: $3 at Ladbrokes
England – a natural extension of their ODI exploits
Most of the squad members are the same swashbucklers from the ODI side. With Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, and James Vince into the mix, captain Eoin Morgan has a great batting unit at his disposal.
The biggest talking point, though, is the return of Ben Stokes! The charismatic all-rounder is a shoo-in into the side even without match practice. With T20 specialists David Willey, Tom Curran, and Chris Jordan leading their bowling, England look a hard nut for the others to solve.
