Cricket Betting: Sri Lanka vs Australia ODI Series
Not many would have predicted a whitewash in the Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia. And even those who had done so would have thought it would be Australia walking away with the honors. But Sri Lanka rose above the dust that engulfed their cricket in the recent past to come out shining like a phoenix off the rubble. The Test result makes the ODIs very interesting with the five match series starting on Sunday, August 21.
Sri Lanka banked on the conditions and made full use of the ‘spin demons’ within the minds of the Aussie batsmen to romp home in the Test matches. But ODIs will be a different ball game although the Lankans would still rely on the slew of slow bowling experts at their disposal.
Veteran Tillakaratne Dilshan returns to the fold after missing the England series while the presence of hard hitters Kushal Perera and Danushka Gunatilaka gives an ominous look to their top order. They have the comfort of knowing that Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews follow them with their stable hands.
For Australia, the biggest plus is that there are a host of ODI specialists who have flown in to join the squad. This novelty should help them move away from the disappointments of red-ball cricket. David Warner and Aaron Finch are the most explosive opening combination any captain can dream of while Steve Smith also has the cool head of George Bailey to rely on.
But it is the addition of Adam Zampa, Travis Head and James Faulkner that should excite the visitors. All three youngsters have huge potential to showcase in these conditions. Zampa has already shown his value in the shortest format with a clutch of excellent T20 outings while Faulkner has been a great exponent with his slog over specialties – both with the ball and bat.
Kusal Perera has molded himself on the lines of Sanath Jayasuriya and has already proven how big an entertainer he can be. Apart from his exemplary glove work from the Tests, he would be expected to lead the destruction of the Aussies. At odds of $4.50 with William Hill, Perera is a good bet to end top of the batting charts for the Lankans.
Aaron Finch is a fresh face at the top of the order, and will bring great explosiveness to the line up. He will be very focussed on a good showing to cement his spot in the side so back him at odds of $5.00 at William Hill to be the visitors’ best batsman. James Faulkner is the x-factor with the ball for the Aussies at generous odds of $4.50 at William Hill for most wickets.
Always gamble responsibly.
