Cricket Betting: South Africa vs Australia Key Players

February 28, 2018 by Posted in Cricket Tips

After the Ashes, facing South Africa is one of the toughest tests for most of the Australia cricketers. That explains why there is so much excitement around the four-match Test series starting from March 1st. With a lot at stake for both sets of players and the teams, we are set for an intense series.

We look ahead to the series and throw some light on who could be key as the two teams do battle.

Kagiso Rabada – South Africa
He is just 22-year-old, but Rabada captures a wicket for every 39.7 deliveries. That is the best strike rate in Test cricket for those who captured at least 120 wickets. With Dale Steyn on his last legs and Morne Morkel having decided to move on, it would be no surprise that Rabada would be expected to provide the aggression for the hosts.
Can he rattle the visiting batsmen? Yes, he can! But, an interesting footnote for Rabada is the fact that he is currently just one incident away from copping a two-Test suspension. That means, the Aussies will try to tag him along and try and rile him up.
Needless to say, it would be exciting whenever he has the ball!

Steve Smith – Australia
We say this time and again and may get tired of it, but not this guy! The Australian captain loves to bat and bat for longer periods. We have seen how he tired the England bowlers during the Ashes making them bowl where he wanted.
His unorthodox batting technique makes it difficult for the bowlers to dislodge him and over the years he has developed a unique style to accumulate runs. Smith has three Tests to his credit in this country and has scored 269 runs at an average of 67.25.
This time around, the number of runs should swell, so keep an eye on the scoreboard when Smith is around!

Faf du Plessis – South Africa
There is so much talk about Faf’s fitness and one reason for the unease in the Proteas’ camp is because of his ability to lift the side. Be it the superlative 110* in Adelaide to help draw the match in 2012 or the 118* at the same venue in 2016 to help shore his side’s total, Faf is always at the forefront of making sure to be there when they need him the most.
He also has a score to settle with the Aussies after he was accused of ball tampering during the last series and was fined. There is still a bit of bad blood between the sides and expect the captain to ride on that bad experience to raise his performances.

TIP: To be top South African batsman – $6.50 at CrownBet
