Cricket Betting: South Africa vs Australia 4th Test Preview

March 29, 2018 by Posted in Cricket Tips

This has to be one of the biggest scandals of world cricket as the Australian public come to terms with the aftermath of the ball-tampering incident. Regular captain Steve Smith and his deputy David Warner have been suspended for one year while Cameron Bancroft got suspended for nine months.

With the dust (nearly) settled on the punishments, the visitors have the tough task of regrouping and fighting for pride against South Africa in the fourth and final Test of the series in Johannesburg from Friday, March 30th. With the hosts carrying a 2-1 lead and a massive psychological edge – thanks to the brain fade of Smith and co – it is a mammoth task for the visitors to step up!

South Africa – a golden chance to win the series!
Australia may have gift-wrapped the win for South Africa, but credit to the way the hosts played out with an air of authority. It is easy to get tangled in the mess engulfing their opponents, but the Proteas remained calm to make sure they grab the chance with both hands.
That presents them with a golden chance of winning the series – something which they have been unable to do at home since readmission. Their performances are still not fail-proof, but the mental plight of their visitors puts South Africa in a commanding position. The only thing they need to guard against is complacency!

Australia – can they regroup?
As stand-in captain Tim Paine confessed after the second Test, the players are shocked and disappointed to perform in Cape Town. But, there is no place to hide and the only way they can assuage the hurt of their own supporters is by going for a win.
It won’t be easy, though, and Paine will hope that the arrival of new faces – Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns, and Glenn Maxwell will ease the tension in the dressing room. Luckily for him, the bowling unit still remains the same and will be keen to lead from the front.

This is not a ground that South Africa like, having played 38 Tests and won just 15 (D11, L12).
The record against Australia is worse with the hosts having lost six of their 11 matches, winning only three.
Australia have won their last five Tests here!

Key players
Hashim Amla has had a torrid series so far picking up just 153 runs (avg. 25.50) with just one fifty in six innings. Can he wield his willow at least now?
Pat Cummins looks to have picked form at the right moment and with 13 wickets in the series so far, he could be the catalyst for Australia’s resurgence.

Tough to see Australia bouncing back and win this. Back the hosts to win at odds of $1.53 (Sportsbet).

TIP: South Africa to win $1.53 at Sportsbet

Back Cummins to be the top Aussie bowler at odds of 3.75 (William Hill)

TIP: Pat Cummins most 1st innings wickets – $3.75 at William Hill
