Cricket Betting: India vs Sri Lanka T20 Series Preview

December 19, 2017 by Posted in Cricket Tips

Rohit Sharma had a hiccup on his initiation as the India ODI skipper, but he eventually led his side to a 2-1 win in the Sri Lanka series. He now has a chance to repeat the success as he leads his side in the three-match T20I series starting with the first match on December 20th.

There’s plenty of other cricket on at the moment with BBL07 underway as well as the upcoming ODI series between New Zealand and the West Indies. Make sure you check out our cricket page for all your tips!

Continuing with their trend of resting the regulars, India have rested some of the well-known names. But, take nothing away from the squad assembled for the series, which is complete with IPL regulars.
Sri Lanka will have a tough task on their hands as captain Thisara Perera looks to take the team past the line. With his T20 talisman Lasith Malinga not available, the task already looks like a mountain!

Can India ride the momentum?
India have a good record against the Sri Lankans in T20Is winning seven of their 11 T20Is (64%). Importantly for the hosts, they have won their last four T20Is against Sri Lanka. At home, the record reads 3-2 (60%), and have won the last two.

Virat Kohli continues to be rested, which means Rohit will make his T20I captaincy debut. His IPL experience should help and so also the presence of IPL regulars like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Manish Pandey. Bowling will be led by Jasprit Bumrah while the one to watch out would be Jaydev Unadkat.

Can the Lankans spring up a surprise?
There is no doubting the fact that the visitors have the skill-set to give the hosts a run for their money. Be it the hard-hitting Niroshan Dickwella or the serenely aggressive Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka can match the hosts for T20 expertise.

The worry for Thisara is the lack of a credible matchwinner with the ball, in the absence of Suranga Lakmal. Will the slew of all-rounders at Thisara’s disposal be the game-changer for the visitors?

Key Players
With his regular sparring partner Shikhar Dhawan not in the squad, Rohit will have the additional burden of being the batting spearhead. Any Indian hopes of winning the series rest on his shoulders.

Asela Gunaratne has come into prominence in the T20Is after leading his side to sensational wins over Australia in Australia. An injury in the Test series in Sri Lanka has put a spanner in his progress, but this series is a great chance to get back on track.

It is going to be another close series and don’t be surprised is Sri Lanka actually go on to win it. India still look favourites to win the series 2-1.

TIP: India to win 2-1

Rohit once again will be the main batsman for the hosts. Back the Indian captain to score the most runs for India.
