Cricket Betting: England vs Bangladesh ODI Series
Any visit to these parts of the world by an English side is normally met with questions regarding their ability to tackle spin. But the bigger question hovering around the current England’s tour to Bangladesh is the absence of regular players Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales due to security reasons. And with that, all eyes will be on new skipper Jos Buttler as they take on Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series starting on Friday, October 7.
Bangladesh are no longer the minnows of World cricket and definitely not so in their own den. They have won their last six ODI series at home, including upsets over South Africa, India and Pakistan. Their batting rests on the shoulders of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan at the top. And in Mahmadullah and Mushfiqur Rahim they have two seasoned warriors who are adept at changing gears any time.
With the ball, it should be the return of Taskin Ahmed after suspension that’s pleasing news for the hosts. The presence of West Indian great Courtney Walsh in the dugout is a great boost along with their captain Mashrafe Mortaza. This is one attack that would definitely bother the visitors.
England, however, is one of the in-form teams in white ball cricket – thanks to their new outlook towards this format. The absence of Eoin Morgan is a serious blow considering his aggression in the field and with the bat. But Jos Buttler is a brilliant player to have as a stand-in captain. Jason Roy and Moeen Ali would be expected to provide ample support to Buttler with the bat.
Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes give a solid look to attack with their all-round skills while Moeen and Adil Rashid will lead the spin. Pitches will be a challenge, but the visitors have enough in their arsenal to make a dash for it – thanks to the presence of multi-skilled players.
England may well have come with a great recent form, but there is something about Bangladesh at home that makes you wonder if the hosts will end up triumphant. At the current odds, a punt on the hosts to get a strong start and win the first match looks a good bet.
