Cricket Betting: 2015 Boxing Day Test Preview
The traditional Boxing Day Test in 2015 will witness a rampaging Australian side trying to pile more misery on the battered West Indies. This second Test match of the Frank Worrell Trophy will be played at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26th and we have our cricket betting tips here at Bet King.
The fortunes of the two teams are so contrasting that the difference is quite visible. Australia is brimming with confidence and trying to build a new team after the retirement of many players – and to an extent, that rebuild has so far been successful. The West Indies on the other hand is moving from one despair to another as the glory days of yester year seem to be so far gone that they look blurred and bleak.
The hosts overwhelmed West Indies at Hobart in the first Test by an innings and 212 runs. There was never any doubt of the result but the capitulation of the visitors within three days must have disappointed everyone. No one enjoys a competitive game more than the Australian public.
For the hosts though, Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh battered the West Indian bowling to submission and should look at more of the same. With Usman Khawaja returning to full fitness, it could spell an end for Joe Burns at the top of the order, for the time being. Bowling looks capable too with James Pattinson’s return to form being the exciting factor.
West Indies were so bad through the match that they were left clutching to very few bright points. Darren Bravo showed his class in the first innings with a classy century but no one rallied around him. Ditto with Kraigg Brathwaite in the second innings.
Less said about the bowling, the better! The fact that the visitors conceded more than 5 runs per over in 114 overs and captured only 4 wickets spoke of their poor quality. The loss of Shannon Gabriel to an injury further compounded their misery. Unless Jason Holder finds a magic potion on Christmas, this Test looks a tall order for West Indies with both ball and bat.
There is almost nothing to gain by putting your money on an Australian win at $1.07 at CrownBet. However, with the form he is in, Khawaja looks a great bet to be the home side’s top scorer in the first innings at $4.75.
