Big Bash League (BBL07) Round 7 Tips

January 10, 2018 by Posted in Cricket Tips

The national players have left for their ODI commitments and the replacements have arrived. BBL07 moves into its decisive phase with the sides grappling with the ins and outs in their squads. Which side will handle the changes more effectively than the others and take giant steps towards a finals’ place?

There’s plenty of other cricket on at the moment with the Australian ODI’s about to kick off along with a heap of international cricket! Make sure you check out our cricket page for all your tips!

Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers (Jan 11, 7:40 PM local)

The Thunder will have Usman Khawaja and James Vince joining the squad which could be a timely boost for them. Shane Watson (236 runs) will need the pair to replace Jos Buttler’s influence (202 runs). They desperately need a win to move from their sixth place into the top-four.

The Scorchers will have Shaun Marsh and Cameron Bancroft returning to the squad, although Marsh will not be available for this match. The impressive David Willey (127 runs, seven wickets) will be replaced by Tim Bresnan for the Scorchers who have been in the top two all through!

TIP: Thunder to win – $2.15 at Sportsbet

Melbourne Renegades vs Melbourne Stars (Jan 12, 7:40 PM local)

This derby is dominated by the Stars (8-4), but with Kieron Pollard set to replace the impressive Mohammad Nabi and Tim Ludeman set to get a chance to open in place of Aaron Finch, the Gades may just turn the tables and cement their position in the top three.

The Stars are at the bottom of the pile with five straight losses and will be heading home if they lose this. Losing Marcus Stoinis (179 runs, five wickets) to ODI duties is a blow and it could get worse is they lose Glenn Maxwell (155 runs) as a Chris Lynn’s replacement!

TIP: Renegades to win – $1.65 at Ladbrokes

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers (Jan 13, 4:10 PM local)
This is a top-of-the-table clash where the Strikers will be without their influential skipper Travis Head. However, the form of Alex Carey (224 runs) and Rashid Khan (11 wickets) is a major fillip and Head’s absence should be overcome by the table-toppers.

The Scorchers, if they win against the Thunder early in this round, will get a chance to start two points above the Strikers. Squad departures are a worry, but the Scorchers have always revelled in adversities.

TIP: Scorchers to win – $2.15 at CrownBet

Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder (Jan 13, 7:20 PM local)

The Sydney derby could be relegated to just being a battle for pride, as both sides are struggling to be in contention. The arrival of Nathan Lyon and Joe Denly (as replacement for Sam Billings) is expected to improve their form. But, the most important addition is that of Carlos Brathwaite (replacement for Jason Roy), who incidentally turned up for the Thunder last season.

The Thunder will look to continue their recent upper hand over the Sixers, having won four of the last five derbies. Of the two sides, by this match, the Thunder could be the only one of the two, with any (remote) chance of finals’ qualification.

TIP: Thunder to win – $1.81 at Sportsbet
