Big Bash League (BBL07): Players To Watch
The stage is set for a bigger and better Big Bash as the seventh edition of the KFC Big Bash League is set to start on December 19. Ahead of the new season, we look at some of the players who are ready to take the tournament by storm.
Chris Lynn – Brisbane Heat
Lynn is one of the most destructive batsman you would ever see in T20 cricket, with due regards to Chris Gayle. He was crowned player of the Big Bash League for the last two seasons and that itself is a testimony of his consistency.
Last year saw the hard-hitting batsman play only five matches. And, he hit 309 runs off only 174 balls, including 26 sixes. That’s a sixer every 15 balls, which is an astonishing fact!
Lynn’s shoulder is a worry ahead of the new season, but even if he takes to the field for a few matches, he can be devastating.
TIP: Chris Lynn to be top Heat batsman – $2.25 at Ladbrokes
Rashid Khan – Adelaide Strikers
The 18-year-old leggie from Afghanistan is one of the stars in global T20 leagues. Be it the Indian Premier League, the Bangladesh Premier League or the Caribbean Premier League, this lad has lapped up every opportunity and mesmerized opposition batsmen.
From 41 T20s, Rashid has 50 wickets at an economy rate of 5.90, which is golden in this format. We have seen in the past that this format and this league suit the leg-spinners. Watch out for the googly coming out of his hand, it’s seldom picked correctly by the batsmen.
TIP: Rashid Khan to be Strikers top bowler – $2.25 at Ladbrokes
Dwayne Bravo – Melbourne Renegades
The West Indian all-rounder is one of the best in his trade in this format. The freelance T20 global league player has missed a major chunk of games last year because of a shoulder injury. But, he should be fully fit ahead of this campaign and must be raring to go!
Also, Bravo would be available for the whole campaign, which will be a boost for Renegades who will be without Sunil Narine who withdrew due to personal problems.
Bravo has 371 runs for the Renegades in 16 matches at a strike-rate of 145. With the ball, he has 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.78. As a package, Bravo is probably the best you will get. His enthusiasm is what the Renegades need as they chase to make it count this season.
TIP: Dwayne Bravo to be Renegades top bowler – $3.50 at Ladbrokes
