Big Bash League (BBL07) 2nd Semi Final Betting Tips

February 2, 2018 by Posted in Cricket Tips

After a gruelling regular season, we are down to the last four. While the Adelaide Strikers have exceeded the expectations by finishing second in the league, Melbourne Renegades have done well to finish third and qualify for the semis.

The Strikers have earned a home semi, but will that help them offset the loss of key players? Have the Renegades peaked at the right time? The story unfolds at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, February 2nd in the second semi-final of BBL07.

Route to the final

The Strikers finished second in the league, only behind the Scorchers, with 14 points and just three losses. Two of those have been against the Scorchers and that is an indicator of how well their season has been!
The Renegades, on the other hand, had to wait till the last match to earn their third place in the table with 12 points. They are a side on the up, though, having won three of their last four BBL matches. Incidentally, that lone loss came against the Striker!

Squad changes

The Strikers are hugely hit by the national call-ups as their top scorer Alex Carey (425 runs, Avg. 53.12, SR 143.09) and regular captain Travis Head (245 runs) will be unavailable. Also unavailable is the scorching pace of Billy Stanlake (11 wickets, economy of 6.47).
Cameron White (302 runs, Avg. 100.66, SR 12.26) returns to the Renegades’ squad and that’s a huge positive! They will, however, miss the services of Kane Richardson (12 wickets) who has earned his place in the Australian T20 squad.

Key players

He has been pencilled even before the start of the season as a key player for the Strikers and Rashid Khan (17 wickets, economy 5.52) has not disappointed. He heads the bowling charts for the most wickets as well as the economy rate and will once again be the protagonist for the hosts.
Not too far from Rashid in the wickets list is the Renegades’ overseas import Dwayne Bravo (17 wickets). Although he leaked runs at an economy of 8.13, the Renegades know his importance at stifling the flow of runs with key wickets.

The last five Big Bash meetings between these sides ended with the visiting team winning the game.
The Strikers have hit the maximum number of sixes (58) in BBL07.
The Strikers hold a slight advantage (4-3) in career head-to-head against the Renegades. They have won three of the last four encounters between these sides. The Strikers and the Renegades are the only BBL clubs yet to reach the final.
Tom Cooper is set to become the only Renegades’ player to play in both the club’s semi-finals having featured earlier in BBL02.

The Renegades may just edge this out, thanks to their squad superiority. Back the Renegades at odds of $1.80 (William Hill).
The Renegades look to have made an improvement at the top of the order after Aaron Finch’s departure to national duty. Back the visitors to score the highest opening partnership at odds of $1.90 (Sportsbet).

TIP: Renegades best opening partnership – $1.90 at Sportsbet

Carey’s absence puts extra pressure on Weatherald to deliver. Back the Strikers’ opener to hit at least one six at odds of $2 (Ladbrokes).

TIP: Weatherald to hit at least one six – $2 at Ladbrokes
