Bangladesh vs Australia 2nd Test Betting Tips

Australia Bangladesh

Australia’s frailties on sub-continental pitches once again came to the fore as Bangladesh cruised to a historic win in the first Test at Mirpur. Bangladesh are looking for another victory as they clash in the 2nd Test starting from Monday, September 4 at Chittagong.
A huge chance for Bangladesh!

Irrespective of their improving home record, not many would have given Bangladesh a chance to win the Test. Now, they stand on the cusp of winning the series and possibly whitewashing their famed visitors!

The template looks simple for the hosts – spinning tracks, a competitive first-innings total and a healthy first-innings lead. All the top guns played their part in the Mirpur victory as Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan led from the front. The fans will be chanting ‘one more time’!

Can the hurt Kangaroos summon the spirit of Pune?

The Aussies had some hope of doing well in this series after performing admirably in India earlier this year. But, the horrors of playing on spinning tracks unravelled as they were found wanting. In the second innings, David Warner was an exception, while there were some encouraging batting performances spread across the two innings.

Injury to Josh Hazlewood has brought a recall for Steve O’Keefe who could find himself thrust into action right away. There is a school of thought that Mathew Wade may be left out to accommodate a second seamer based on the conditions at Chittagong.

Line-ups

Bangladesh had a comfortable outing and should be happy continuing with the same XI. The role of second seamer Shafiul Islam will be under scrutiny as he barely did a thing of note. All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain is waiting in the wings.
O’Keefe is most likely to replace Hazlewood and if they decide to play Peter Handscomb as the keeper, Jackson Bird could get a look-in as second seamer.

Stats

The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong is not one of the favourite grounds for Bangladesh having won just one match and drawing five while losing nine Tests here.

Australia played and won a Test here back in 2006 – best remembered for Jason Gillespie’s double-ton.

Picks

Weather is a huge problem which makes draw a viable option. Odds of $3.25 for backing a draw is an enticing pick. Bangladesh can still upset the equation and their win comes at odds of $3.25 which still looks value.

Tip: Australia & Bangladesh to Draw – $3.25 at Ladbrokes

Nathan Lyon continues to impress on pitches that suit him and will be key for Australia’s success here. Odds of $3.75 make him top pick for being Australia’s best bowler.

Tip: Nathan Lyon Most Australia Wickets – $3.75 at Ladbrokes

Shakib Al Hasan once again looms as the biggest threat for Australia with his all-round skills. Back him at odds of $1.83 (Ladbrokes) to score over 27.5 runs in the first-innings.

Tip: Shakib Al Hasan OVER 27.5 1st Innings Runs – $1.83 at Ladbrokes
