AFL Round 20 ‘Pick of the Week’
The Bet King’s latest AFL Tip of the Week sees the attention turn to Saturday night’s clash between the Lions and Carlton.
We think there is plenty of value betting the Lions in this spot.
The game is at the Gabba, which certainly won’t suit the struggling Blues. This game really is a battle for the wooden spoon and you would hope the Lions wouldn’t tank in front of a home ground just to get the first pick in the AFL Draft, especially when they are looking likely to get some compassionate equalisation help next year.
All tanking talk aside, I believe the Lions are simply a better team. They showed some promise against the Suns last week, scoring a rare tonne. The likes of Tom Rockliff and Pearce Hanley also looked very strong after a patchy year. The Blues don’t have one player of the Rockliff or Hanley class and yes, that includes Marc Murphy.
Brisbane eat the Blues back in Round 6 by 9 points at Etihad Stadium and think they are rated to win this game by 3-4 goals at home. The Lions are a solid clearance side, ranked fifth in the league and if they can score like they did last week on the rebound, the Blues will really struggle.
The Lions here look like value at $1.80
