AFL Round 14 ‘Pick of the Week’
The byes are finally over as we head into Round 14 of the 2015 AFL season.
We will be utilising this offer by getting on Sydney by 1-39 points.
All the talk around this game will be that Sydney will go without key forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippet. While this is certainly a big loss, there is no doubt the Swans have enough depth and running goal kickers to fill this void.
The fact of the matter of this game is that Port Adelaide have shown no signs of improvement. They were beaten by Carlton a fortnight ago and Geelong the week before. It’s lucky they had a bye last week because they clearly needed it.
The Swans did lose against Richmond last week, but the Tigers have been a bit of a bogey team for the Swans – which is what Sydney are to Port Adelaide. The Power have lose the last three in a row, including an almost 50-point defeat at their own ground earlier this year. This game is at the SCG, which is a venue the Power have only won at once in the last 12 games. Port Adelaide also don’t travel well, losing three of four games on the road.
You get the feeling Port Adelaide could overthink this one. The fact the Swans are without their key forwards will excite the Power, while the in the back of their heads they know they have to win this game to keep their finals chance alive. This could be a curse and at the end of the day the Swans have so much more class than Port Adelaide and on this big stage, at home, on a Thursday night, should easily get the points.
Bet On: Sydney by 1-39 points
