A-league Round 18 Betting Multi
After securing a multi the week before, last week a couple of upsets cost us from going back-to-back. This week we take advantage of three favourites and a team that is in form but has been given the outside odds in our round 18 multi of the week.
In the first match of the round we will be backing Adelaide United to continue its winning streak against the inconsistent Sydney FC. The Reds are currently on a five game winning streak and their rise has seen them move to just on win away from third position on the ladder. Their attack has improved drastically whilst their defence has continued to remain solid. Meanwhile the Sky Blues are struggling to find the back of the net and have the second worst conversion rate in the league. They have just one win in their last seven meetings with the Reds and we expect that record to continue with Adelaide picking up the victory at home.
In our second leg we will be backing the second placed Brisbane Roar to make easy work of the bottom placed Central Coast Mariners. The Roar snapped a two-game skid with a quality win against Sydney FC on the road as Jamie Maclaren made an important return to the side and made his impact felt immediately. They defeated the Mariners earlier in the season away from home and will be confident they can do the job on home soil. The Mariners earned their third win of the season last week with new signing Luis Garcia being instrumental in all three of the Mariners goals including finding his first goal for his new side. However, he won’t be enough to lift the inexperienced and young Mariners side to victory against the Roar.
Similar to the Reds, Perth Glory has had a midseason revival and they have shocked a lot of people over their last three games. They earned a quality win against the Victory for the second time this season and the week before they dismantled the Jets defeating them 6-1. Their new goal scoring potency can be credited to the return of Andy Keogh who has provided a massive spark up front. Whilst the Wellington Phoenix has slumped to three straight 3-1 defeats as their defence is looking poor whilst they haven’t been able to create many chances in attack. The Glory are outsiders in this one but we think they are great value to pick up the win with the form they are in.
In our final leg we will be taking Melbourne City to defeat the Newcastle Jets away from home. City’s defence was their issue last week against the Wanderers, which has been an area they have struggled all season as they continue to leak goals. However, they have accepted this and generally back themselves to score more goals than their opponents. They have 43 goals in 17 matches which is 14 more than the next best in the league whilst the Jets have just 13 to their name. We are backing this to be a one-sided affair with City likely to put a big score on the Jets.
