A League Round 1

The 2016-17 A-league season kicks off this Friday night and each week we will be bringing you our multi of the week starting with our 2016-17 A-League Round 1 Betting Multi. The multi will be four legs long and we will use the Sportsbet promotion, which will give you a bonus bet up to $50 if one leg fails.

To kick off our first multi of the season, we will be predicting the Melbourne Victory to put their disappointments from last season behind them to earn the three points against the Roar in Brisbane. The Victory fell away at the end of last year with the side clearly being impacted by playing in the Asian Champions League. Marco Rojas has returned from an unsuccessful stint in Europe and if he is able to recapture the form he showed before he left he will make a dynamic duo up front with Besart Berisha. Meanwhile the Roar are coming off a season where they were able to overcome their low expectations to finish in the finals series and compete for the title. The side has brought in former Socceroo Brett Holman and he will add a lot of experience to the team, however we are predicting the Victory to start well.

Melbourne City will start off their campaign with a lot of expectations as a lot of people are predicting the side to finish the season on top spot. They have lost a huge player in Aaron Mooy but brought in arguably the biggest star to come out of Australian soccer and that is Tim Cahill. Despite being nearly 37-years of age, Cahill has proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with as he continues to find the back of the net. He will have a huge impact on the A-league both on and off the field and if Bruno Fornaroli brings his goal scoring boots then Meblourne City’s attack will be just as good as last season. Fornaroli grabbed 23 goals in 27 matches last year and was hard to stop in front of goal. It is sure to be an attacking affair with Wellington Phoenix stocking up on attacking weapons themselves. We are predicting both sides to find the back of the net as the points are shared.

In our third leg we are backing the Sydney derby to go in favour of the Sky Blues. On the back of a disappointing season that saw Sydney FC miss out on the finals series, coach Graham Arnold has opened the wallet and brought in a lot of talent. This includes four Australian internationals and striker Bobo. He will be hoping their goal scoring woes are behind them as the Sky Blues struggled to find the back of the net last year. Meanwhile the Wanderers are coming off a great season as they reached the grand final, however that didn’t stop coach Tony Popovic from swinging the axe as 15 players were shown the door which means there is almost a totally new side taking the field this weekend. We are predicting them to take a while to gel together and therefore the Sky Blues will earn the victory.

To wrap up our multi we will be backing Perth Glory to earn the victory on home soil against the Mariners. The Glory haven’t made too many changes to their squad as they were able to build some momentum to reach the finals series. They had a terrible start to the year and they will want to avoid that this season. The Glory have brought in Rhys Williams who is a great player but has suffered injuries throughout his entire career. Meanwhile the Mariners are coming off the worst season in A-league history and we aren’t predicting them to improve much this year. They have brought in a couple of quality players but the majority of the side is young and inexperienced and they won’t be able to compete with the clubs in the A-league.
