Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory (Friday 7.35pm AEDT)
The Roar will take on the Victory in back-to-back matches after they played out a scoreless draw on the weekend. The Roar were the dominant team in the match and created all of the quality chances but they weren’t able to find the back of the net as the Victory held on to ruin the Roar’s chances of lifting the premiership trophy.
The last time these two sides faced off in Brisbane it turned out to be a historical night as the Roar handed the Victory one of their worst ever defeats in a 5-0 thumping of the defending champions. The score line won’t be like that as the Victory have returned to form in recent weeks and are undefeated in their past four matches earning two victories in that span. Another massive boost for the away side is the addition of Besart Berisha to the line up. They were without their leading goal scorer on the weekend as he was handed a suspension for his kick during their win over the Victory the week before. He was able to fight the charge and get it downgraded to allow him to take the field this weekend against his former team. Berisha was the hero for the Roar in their two championships whilst he was massive in the Victory’s successful season last year. The Albanian always seems to make an impact in the biggest matches and we expect him to be involved in something in this one.
Meanwhile the Roar have been consistent for the majority of the season and have already gone way above their expectations as a lot of experts had them as a big chance of earning the wooden spoon this year. Thomas Broich and Jame MaClaren have been superb for the entire season with MaClaren scoring 18 goals for the Roar. The 0-0 draw on the weekend suggests that the Victory will head to Suncorp Stadium with a game plan to defend and attack on the counter. If they are able to keep the Roar scoreless throughout the opening stages of the match it will turn out to be a low scoring match, however we ultimately predict the home side will find a way to eliminate the defending champions.

Melbourne City vs Perth Glory (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
These two sides will face off for the second time in three weeks after the Glory were able to come out on top 3-2 in their last meeting. This time around it will be City who has the home field advantage and it will be a massive boost for the side that has been solid on home soil for the majority of the season. However, they did face a loss on the weekend against Adelaide United, which ultimately settled the minor premiership.
Meanwhile the Glory will be entering the match after suffering a massive loss against the Sky Blues last weekend. They were defeated 4-0 as Sydney FC were finally able to string a successful attacking match together but it was too late for them.
The last three times these two sides have met there has been 15 goals scored which is an average of five goals in each match. We are backing the two teams to have another high scoring contest as both sides are the best attacking teams in the competition with the City being the best at 63 goals in 27 matches this season. Meanwhile their defences aren’t the best in the competition and they can often be caught out pushing too far forward.
We are also backing City to be too strong on home soil in this one as they have more goals in them than the Glory. Despite conceding five goals in the last two games, City’s defence has improved in the back half of the season and in the four games before their last two they conceded just one goal. Aaron Mooy and Bruno Fornaroli’s combination will be instrumental in their victory, as Mooy will continue to create quality chances that Fornaroli capitalises on.
TIP: City @ $2.00 with William Hill + over 3.5 goals @ $2.22 with Palmerbet
