2018 NRL Round 5 Betting Multi
The NRL season continues this weekend and we take a look at the best value matches for our NRL Round 5 Betting Multi.
Raiders vs Bulldogs (Thursday, Apr 5 7:50pm AEST)
In the first leg of our NRL multi, we’re going to back the Raiders to earn their first victory of the season. Despite their 0-4 record, they have lost three matches by 2 or less points. So they could easily be 3-1. They have a better attack on paper as they rank inside the top 5 for tries and points scored. The Bulldogs leak 26 points per match and that will be the key for the Raiders getting on the winners’ list. They also won their last home match against the Bulldogs 32-20. So after a tough loss against the Sea Eagles, I believe they can respond in Round 5.
Sharks vs Roosters (Friday, Apr 6 6:00pm AEST)
The next leg of our NRL multi is an upset for the Sharks against the Roosters. Cronulla has one of the best defences in the NRL and that will be the key against the Roosters. The Roosters were held in check by the Warriors defence last week, which has a similar defence to the Sharks. They’ve lost both matches this season against strong defences as well. So that bodes well for the Sharks. Cronulla is also coming off a 14-4 win over the Storm at this venue and they will be confident of another upset. They have a 7-2 record against the Roosters since 2013 and I’m backing them in.
Dragons vs Rabbitohs (Friday, Apr 6 7:50pm AEST)
In the third leg of our NRL multi, I’m backing the Dragons will keep their undefeated record going against the Rabbitohs. They have the number 1 ranked attack in the NRL and that should be the key against Souths. The Rabbitohs were pretty lucky to beat the Bulldogs last week and it’s hard to see them keeping pace with the Dragons attack. They average just 22 points per match, which is decent, but they’re facing a Dragons side that scored 34.5 ppg. The Dragons have also allowed just 12 points per match so far. They love playing at Jubilee Oval and I’m backing them to reach 5-0 in 2018.
Warriors vs Cowboys (Saturday, Apr 7 5:30pm AEST)
The Warriors have arguably been the most surprising team in 2018 and that should continue in Round 5. They’re coming off a huge win over the Roosters and they’ll be at home against the struggling Cowboys in this one. North QLD are 1-3 on the season and haven’t looked overly impressive since their Round 1 victory over the Sharks. They’re struggling for points as they average just 17 points per match and concede 25 per match. They’ve also lost both matches on the road this season. To top it off, Jordan McClean is out for around 12 weeks. That hurts their forward pack and chances in this contest. So the Warriors are hard to stop when they have winning momentum and they should enjoy home field advantage over the Cowboys.
Eels vs Panthers (Sunday, Apr 8 4:10pm AEST)
In the last leg of this NRL Round 5 multi, the Panthers look the goods against the struggling Eels. They already met in Round 1 this season and the Panthers won 24-14. Since that loss, the Eels have arguably been the worst attacking side in the NRL. They scored some late tries against the Tigers last week but still average under 10 points scored per match. While for the Panthers, they’re coming off a confidence building away win over the Cowboys. The pleasing sign was they started scoring points in the first half, which has been a major issue in the first few rounds. They also proved they can win without injured halfback Nathan Cleary. Which meant James Maloney is a capable replacement. So in the end, the Panthers are 3-1 against the Eels since 2016 and it’s hard to see Parramatta scoring enough points to cause an upset.
