2018 NRL Round 22 Betting Multi
Just four rounds to go in the 2018 NRL season and this weekend’s action kicks off Thursday night! We take a look at the best value matches for our NRL Round 22 Betting Multi below.
Warriors vs Knights (Friday, Aug 10 6:00pm AEST)
The multi for this week will start in New Zealand with a victory to the Warriors. They found form last week with a 18-12 win over the Dragons in Sydney. Now they face the Knights who are coming off 2 straight losses. They’ve been sloppy in both of those games against the Cowboys and Tigers. The Warriors own a strong home defence with just 17.22 points allowed per game. So while they’ve lost 4 in a row at home, they’ve been close finishes and they should beat the Knights with more to play for in terms of top 8 position. In the head to head, the Knights are 0-5 at Mt Smart since 2013 and have only beaten the Warriors in NZ once since 2010. There’s also extra motivation for the home side as Isaac Luke brings up 250 games.
Titans vs Panthers (Saturday, Aug 11 3:00pm AEST)
We head to the Gold Coast for the next leg with the Panthers taking down the Titans. I think the sacking of their coach should see the players respond on the park. They have been disappointing lately with two lucky wins over the Raiders and Sea Eagles. However, they should bounce back against the inconsistent Titans. The Gold Coast side followed a stunning 36-12 win at home with a 28-12 loss at ANZ against the Eels. The home side lacks a strong defence and that won’t help against the Panthers. The Titans rank 14th in the league for points allowed at home and the Panthers are the 5th best scoring team on the road. They also beat them 35-12 in Round 6 this season. Since 2010, they hold a 10-4 record against them and have also won the last 3 in a row.
Eels vs Dragons (Saturday, Aug 11 7:30pm AEST)
In the third leg, the Dragons should beat the Eels. They are out of form at the moment with 4 losses in their last 5. However, they need to show something before the finals and I think that starts against the Eels. Parramatta have been poor against top 8 sides in 2018 and they’ve only beaten the Titans, Bulldogs and Cowboys since Round 12. So the Dragons need to continue that streak. Interestingly, the home side has altered their lineup despite one of their best attacking displays of the season. Against the Titans at this venue, they poured on 28 points. However, Gutherson moves to the centres and Hayne to the wing with Jaeman Salmon debuting at five-eighth. So I’m not sure if they can replicate the same scoring against the Dragons.
Raiders vs Tigers (Sunday, Aug 12 2:00pm AEST)
The fourth leg will be the Raiders defeating the Tigers in Canberra. The home side has the wood over the Tigers with 4 impressive wins in a row since 2016. In those games, they average a massive total of 51.5 points per game. In contrast, the Tigers have managed just 34 total points. In fact, the last 2 meetings in Canberra have resulted in a total score of 106-12 in the Raiders favour. So there’s no doubt about it – the Raiders love playing the Wests Tigers! They also won their last NRL game at this venue against the Cowboys 38-12 and they should be hurting after 3 tough losses. Which were all against top 8 sides. The Tigers have won 3 of their last 4 but they lack the scoring power to keep up with the Raiders. They’re ranked last in the NRL for points scored and will face a tough test against the best scoring team in the league.
Storm vs Sharks (Sunday, Aug 12 4:10pm AEST)
The multi for Round 22 will end at AAMI Park with the Storm taking down the Sharks. While the Storm were soundly beaten by the Rabbitohs 30-20 last week, they’re a much better side when they play at AAMI Park. They’re ranked as the number 1 scoring side in home games as they score 32 points per game. Now the Sharks do rank 3rd in the NRL for points allowed in away games. However, they could be vulnerable this week after giving up 33 points to the Sea Eagles last round. Another factor will be Billy Slater after his retirement today. The home side will be looking to put on a good performance for him and also build winning form before the finals. Also since 2010, they hold a 7-1 record at AAMI Park against the Sharks and that should continue in a close win.
