Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs (Saturday, Jul 14 3:00pm AEST)
Our multi for Round 18 starts on Saturday afternoon at ANZ Stadium with a win to the Rabbitohs. They’re sitting pretty at the top of the ladder and on paper, their offence looks too strong for the Bulldogs. Canterbury lost 32-28 against the Raiders last week and conceded 14 points in the last 6 minutes alone! The Rabbitohs own the best attack in the NRL by points scored and that spells trouble for the Dogs defence. The home side last beat the Eels at this venue 42-24 and I can see a similar result. They’ve also won the last 2 against the Dogs at ANZ.
Sea Eagles vs Storm (Saturday, Jul 14 5:30pm AEST)
The multi continues to Brookvale Oval with a Melbourne Storm victory over the Sea Eagles. The Storm made a statement last week with a 52-30 thrashing of the Dragons at AAMI Park. What’s more incredible is they did without a full strength lineup. The likes of Slater, Addo-Carr and Munster were all missing from the win. But the key ingredient is Cameron Smith. His Origin retirement has meant the Storm are no longer easy beats during the Origin period. So Manly are going to struggle to contain this attack. They’ve lost the last 2 at this venue against them and allowed 30+ in each. Manly haven’t been great at home this season. They’ve lost the last 2 here against the lowly Knights and Cowboys.
Broncos vs Warriors (Sunday, Jul 15 2:00pm AEST)
The best value win bet of the round should come in Brisbane with the Broncos taking down the Warriors. Taking on Penrith last week without their strongest lineup, the Warriors had their pants pulled down in a 36-4 crushing defeat. They seem to have a knack of losing a string of games late in recent season’s and the trip to Brisbane won’t be any easier. They’ve won just once at Suncorp in the last 7 years. Meanwhile, Brisbane produced a clinical display against the Titans last week as they won 34-0. So they should continue their attacking onslaught against this lazy Warriors defence.
Dragons vs Tigers (Sunday, Jul 15 4:10pm AEST)
The fourth leg of our multi will be the Dragons defeating the Tigers. Yes, the Dragons were terrible last round against the Storm. But one bad performance is okay for a side that is sitting 2nd on the ladder. They’re unbeaten as the home side in season 2018 and they’ll be helped by a longer break for their Origin stars. The decision to bench Ben Hunt in Origin game 3 will also help him backup for the Dragons. At Jubilee Oval, they’ve won all 3 games this season and have conceded just 12 points per game. The Tigers are coming off 4 straight losses and they’ve failed to score over 16 points in those games. So I can’t see them exploiting the Dragons defence in this one.
Titans vs Roosters (Sunday, Jul 15 6:30pm AEST)
The multi ends on the Gold Coast with a victory to the Roosters. The Titans were woeful last week at home in a 34-0 thrashing so the Roosters will be another tough ask for their defence. They’ve also lost the last 3 against them and the likes of Cooper Cronk will look to take advantage in attack. The Sydney side also owns one of the best defences in the league. They’re ranked 1st for points allowed in away games and 1st overall in all games this season. So after the Titans were shutout, it’s hard to see them outscoring this Roosters lineup.
