2018 AFL Round 7 Preview and Betting Tips
We’re now a month and a half through the 2018 AFL season and it’s the reigning premiers who sit on top of the ladder. There’s some huge games coming up this weekend, so take a look below at SmitTips AFL Round 7 betting tips.

Geelong Cats VS GWS Giants (Friday, 7:50PM AEST)
Round 7 kicks off at the Cattery with a potential finals showdown between the Cats and the Giants. The Cats would be very disappointed with their Round 6 loss against the Swans, where they led through three quarters before capitulating in the last. Superstar Gary Ablett is a chance to return to the Cats midfield if he ticks the boxes in Thursday’s training session, while Dangerfield looks to be back to full fitness.

The Giants looked to be in second gear all game in their Round 6 win over the Lions. They haven’t been as good as the punters suggested prior to the season, but their list is elite and are sure to hit their straps sometime soon. Despite a lacklustre start to the season they’re sitting in 3rd position at 4-2 and have an opportunity to make a statement against the Cats on Friday Night.

I’m expecting this one to be a tight tussle with the potential of an upset looming. Will be tipping the Giants to win, but more than happy taking them at the line for a bit of safety.

TIP: Giants at the line (+17.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes

Western Bulldogs VS Gold Coast Suns (Saturday, 1:45PM AEST)
Although they managed to defeat a poor Blues outfit last Friday Night, I think it’s fair to say that the Bulldogs have been the most disappointing team of 2018 thus far. They have won just 2 of their 6 games, with 3 of their 4 losses being by 50+ point margins. Luckily for them they’ve had a kind draw, which continues on this weekend when they host the Suns at Etihad Stadium.

The Suns early round form looks to have dropped down the level that we thought they’d be playing at before the season started. They’re coming off a 48-point blowout loss away to the Crows last weekend and will have to get on the plane once again to take on the Dogs in Melbourne.

Although the Dogs should win at home, I believe it’ll be much closer than the bookies are letting on. Happy to take the Suns with a 32-points start.

TIP: Suns at the line (+32.5) – $1.92 at Sportsbet

Essendon Bombers VS Hawthorn Hawks (Saturday, 2:10PM AEST)
The headliner for a big 5-game Saturday slate is the blockbuster duel between the Bombers and the Hawks. The Bombers have been extremely disappointing since their big win over the Power and are entering Round 7 with just 2 wins to their name. They’ll be viewing this one as a must-win and will need a big lift from Joe Daniher if they’re to make it happen.

The Hawks have been excellent in season 2018 and sit in 4th position with 4 wins from 6 games. They’ll welcome back key cog James Siciliy to the side, who served a 1 match ban for reckless conduct. Tom Mitchell was back to his best with 45 touches in Round 6, while Isaac Smith kicked 4 goals in a superb display against the Saints.

The Hawks are undeniably the form team of the two leading into this match, however, the Bombers usually show up in must-wins and we think they’ll bring their A-Game to the ‘G on Saturday.

TIP: Bombers at the line (+9.5) – $1.92 at CrownBet

Brisbane Lions VS Collingwood Magpies (Sunday, 4:40PM AEST)
Round 7 will finish off with a Sunday twilight match between the Lions and the Magpies at the Gabba. The Lions are one of just two teams who are yet to win a game in 2018 and have another hard task on their hands this weekend. They managed to avoid a heavy loss in Round 6, but were still a long way off causing an upset against the Giants.

The Magpies terrific month of football came undone in the last quarter of their Round 6 loss against the Tigers. It looked like they were enroute to causing another upset, before succumbing to the Tigers pressure in the second half. However, they’ve a big opportunity to get back on the winners list when they travel to Queensland this weekend.

The Magpies should be too strong for the Lions on Sunday. Take them at the small line.

TIP: Magpies at the line (-18.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes
