2018 AFL Round 18 Betting Tips

AFL-Round-21The 2018 AFL season couldn’t be much tighter as we approach the final month of football. It should be a great weekend of football, so without further ado, here’s our AFL Round 18 preview and betting tips.

St Kilda vs Richmond (Friday, 7:50PM AEST)
Kicking off Round 18 is the Saints vs Tigers clash at Etihad Stadium. It’s a match that looks completely one sided on paper when looking at the contrasting ladder position of the two sides. However, it was only 12 months ago that the Saints beat the Tigers at the same venue by a whopping 67 points! The only game played between them since then was in Round 10 this year where the Tigers won by 28 points at the MCG.

Although the Saints come in as heavy underdogs (and rightfully so), I feel that they’re good money to cover the spread. They play the fast track at Etihad really well and have found some great form over the last month, winning 3 of their past 4. If they get off to a decent start they should be able to keep the margin to a respectable margin.

TIP: St Kilda at the line (+39.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes

Collingwood vs North Melbourne (Saturday, 1:45PM AEST)
The first match of Saturday’s 5-game slate is a huge one between the Magpies and the Kangaroos. Both sides are coming off a disappointing loss in Round 17 and will be desperate to get back on the winners list to keep their top4/top8 hopes alive. The last time they met was in Round 20 last year when the Pies ran out comfortable 54-point winners at Etihad Stadium.

The Magpies have looked a little shaky in the past couple of weeks as the injury list continues to grow. Meanwhile, North have had some struggles of their own and now sit outside the eight after going 2-2 since their bye. In my eyes it’s as good as a 50/50 as you’ll get this year, so we’ll take the team with a 2-goal start.

TIP: North Melbourne at the line (+12.5) – $1.92 at Sportsbet

Essendon vs Fremantle (Saturday, 4:35PM AEST)
This weekend’s Saturday twilight match features the Bombers and the Dockers at Etihad Stadium. The Bombers have resurrected their season by winning 6 of their last 8 games to sit just 1 game outside of the top 8. On the other hand, Fremantle’s coming off one of their best wins of the season in Round 17, defeating the Power by 9 points at Optus Oval.

The 33-point start that the Bookies are giving the Dockers looks like a big one, but we think it’s more than achievable for the Dons. They play really well at Etihad and are currently firing on all cylinders. They’ll look to treat this match against the Dockers as a much needed percentage booster.

TIP: Essendon at the line (-33.5) – $1.92 at CrownBet

Brisbane vs Adelaide (Saturday, 7:25PM AEST)
Our final play of Round 18 comes from the Lions vs Crows Saturday Night match at The Gabba. The Lions have been in surprisingly good form and currently have the longest winning streak in the AFL (3 games), which just goes to show how close this season really is. While the Crows have managed to win 2 out of 3 games since their bye.

The Bookies can hardly split these two sides as Adelaide are set to start favourites by less than a goal. However, we feel that the Crows simply have more to play for and will be the hungrier team from the first bounce. They should get the job done here.

TIP: Adelaide at the line (-5.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes
