2018 AFL Round 11 Preview and Betting Tips
It’s the last weekend of footy before the 3 BYE Rounds commence, which means teams will be leaving it all on the line. There’s plenty of big games coming up with a lot of value on offer, so take a look below at SmitTips Round 11 AFL preview and betting tips.

Sydney Swans vs Carlton Blues (Friday, 7:50PM AEST)
The Swans took care of business away at the GABBA last weekend, defeating the Lions by 18 points. Although it wasn’t the most impressive of victories for the Swans, it takes them to 4th position on the ladder at 7-3. They’ll be confident they can make light work of the youthful Blues when they return home to the SCG on Friday Night, with the huge possibility of Buddy Franklin kicking a bag to kick-start Indigenous Round.

The Blues showed a bit of courage in their 28-point loss against the Cats at GMHBA Stadium last weekend. It could’ve easily been a game where they get blown out from the get-go, especially after losing by 109 points in the week prior, however, they dug deep and managed to make a contest out of it. The Blues are currently cemented at the bottom of the ladder, with just 1 win so far in season 2018.

Just like most of the Friday Night games this year, I’m not quite sure who thought Sydney vs Carlton at the SCG would be a good idea. I’m expecting the Swans to obliterate the Blues, covering the big line in the process.

TIP: Swans at the line (-51.5) – $1.92 at CrownBet
VALUE: Franklin 5+ goals and Swans win – $3.50 at Ladbrokes

Hawthorn Hawks vs Port Adelaide Power (Saturday, 2:10PM AEST)
AFL Saturday kicks off with what I’m tipping to be the match of the round, when the Hawks take on the Power in Tasmania. The Hawks would be disappointed they couldn’t get the job done against the Eagles at the MCG in Round 10. They had their chances but couldn’t convert when it mattered. The loss has them at 5-5 for the season through 10 matches.

The Power will have the fresh legs here after having the BYE in Round 10. Their most recent match was over in China, where they defeated the Suns by a comfortable 40 points. Tom Rockliff has finally started to deliver what Power fans were hoping, helping himself to two huge games since returning from injury in Round 9. The Power are currently in 9th position at 6-3, but have played a game less than the teams above.

Port will have the fresher bodies, but the Hawks love playing in Tassie. It should be a closely fought battle, but I’m expecting the Hawks to come away with the points at their home away from home.

TIP: Hawks to win – $1.96 at Ladbrokes

Essendon Bombers vs Richmond Tigers (Saturday, 7:25PM AEST)
There’s potential for a blockbuster game to play out at the MCG on Saturday Night, when the Bombers take on the Tigers in the annual Dream Time match. The Bombers have found some form and have resurrected their season with 2 big wins in their last 2 games. It looked like the season was over when they were at 2-6 and coming off a loss to the bottom-of-the-ladder Blues, but the desire in the contest and the willingness to dig deep has kept their season alive. They now sit in 12th position with 4 wins from 10 games.

The Tigers have been less than impressive in their last couple of games. After a 47-point thrashing at the hands of the Eagles, most people expected them to come out firing against the Saints. Instead, they found themselves in a tight contest, leading the Saints by just 10 points at three quarter time. Nonetheless, they were good enough to get the win and are still looking pretty in 2nd position on the ladder at 8-2.

This match would’ve been one-way traffic if it was played a few weeks ago, but the Bombers have found their feet and are every chance of claiming the 4 points. Happy to take them with a healthy 22-point start.

TIP: Bombers at the line (+22.5) – $1.92 at Sportsbet

Collingwood Magpies vs Fremantle Dockers (Sunday, 3:20PM AEST)
The Magpies have been excellent for over a month now and are showing signs that they’re going to be relevant in September. They started slow last weekend, but were clinical in the second half where they kept the Dogs goal-less, running away 35-point winners in the process. The Pies are now in 8th position with 6 wins and will be confident they can improve that record again this weekend against the Dockers.

The Dockers have really dropped off from the form they showed at the beginning of the season. There’s been plenty of talk surrounding the veterans of the club and whether Coach Ross Lyon should now be focussing on playing the kids. They have won just 1 of their past 5 games and look like a one-man band most of the time. The Dockers are currently sitting in 13th position with 4 wins and a big task on their hands.

The Magpies will simply be too good for the Dockers this weekend. I’m more than happy to take them at the line.

TIP: Magpies at the line (-30.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes
