Wimbledon 2017 preview
Grass may be for the cows but Wimbledon is surely for the Tennis connoisseurs. The aficionados from across the globe will be glued to the All England Club for the next fortnight as the 2017 Wimbledon kicks off from July 3rd.

We look ahead to the Men’s draw, the favourites and predictions for the title winner.
The world number one Andy Murray (Great Britain) is in such poor form that even a relatively good draw is not evoking hopes of a title run. Injuries also took its toll and the Scot is not a top pick even among the local fans. A first-round loss at the Queens did not help either.

Coming to the draw, the unpredictable Dustin Brown of Germany lurks in the second round. Murray also has young guns Nick Kyrgios (Australia) and Lucas Pouille (France) whom he is slated to meet before the quarters. If he can cross these tough hurdles, up in the semis could be the underdog Stan Wawrinka (Switzerland). Surely, it is going to be an uphill – literally – for the fan favourite!

Talking of fan favourites, all eyes will be on eight-time Champion Roger Federer. The Swiss Maestro who has won the Australian Open and rested from the French Open to keep himself fresh for the Wimbledon, has a favourable draw.

Federer begins against Alexander Dolgopolov (Ukraine) while Mischa Zverev (Germany) and the ‘Baby Federer’ Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria) are in the same quarter. Milos Raonic (Canada) too will hope to stop him from reaching the semis – but that will need a lot of stars to conspire against Federer.

Have fans forgotten about Novak Djokovic? From a time where he used to win at least one Grand Slam out of every three, the Serb now has not won after 2016 French Open. That’s a drought of four Slams – his biggest since 2013-14. Injuries and poor form too do not augur well for the second seed who has an enviable 32-3 record here since 2010 with three titles. Will the return to familiar courts revitalize Djoker?

Djokovic should overcome Juan Martin del Potro who could be his third-round opponent while the upcoming Austrian Dominic Thiem, Spanish veteran and newly—crowned Queen’s champ Feleciano Lopez also lurk in his quarter.

French Open Champion Rafael Nadal is playing his best tennis in the past five years and that alone should make him a threat. Marin Cilic is the lone name in his quarter that could stop him from reaching the semis.

Among the Aussies, apart from the ever-unpredictable Kyrgios, young Thanasi Kokkinakis will be the one to watch out for. Having beaten Raonic at the Queen’s, the Aussie will take on Del Potro in the first round – a must-watch for all the neutrals.

Federer stands out at $3.25 (William Hill) to win the title while Nadal at $5.50 (William Hill) and Djokovic, Murray at odds of $7 (William Hill) follow closely.

TIP: Federer to win the title – $3.25 at William Hill
