2017 Super Rugby Semi Finals Betting Tips

The 2017 Super Rugby semi-finals are here with both matches to be played on Saturday night. We take a look at both games for our Super Rugby Semi-Final Preview and Betting Tips.

Crusaders vs Chiefs (Saturday 5.35pm AEST)
The Chiefs will enter the contest on the back of a solid win against the Stormers on the road. The Chiefs held onto a 9-3 lead at half-time after taking advantage of the territory they earned and penalties they were given. The side proved they have the capabilities to dig deep too as they overcame a late deficit to score the match winning try in the final five minutes.

However, the Crusaders showed more grit in their 17-0 victory over the Highlanders. It was a classy performance from the Crusaders in torrential rain. They scored two tries in the first 40-minutes thanks to hard work from their forward pack and their defence was near perfect as they held the Highlanders scoreless for the entire match. We believe their defence will be the difference in this one as they hold on for a tight victory against their New Zealand opponents.

Lions vs Hurricanes (Saturday 10.30pm AEST)
The second and final game of the Super Rugby semi-final round will be a grand final rematch from last year. The Highlanders ran away with that match in difficult conditions for the Lions but on this occasion the game is likely to be played on a dry track which will favour both sides. The forward pack of the Lions is arguably superior and if they are able to take advantage early and get on the scoreboard it could put pressure onto the Hurricanes to fight their way back into the contest.

Meanwhile the Hurricanes showed their superiority last week against the Brumbies. They fell behind early on the scoreboard but it wasn’t long until they earned a lead and held onto it. The side is the defending champions and they have been to the last two grand finals. They will be hard to knock off but we are predicting the side to be tiring after two long road trips and a hard match against the Crusaders a week earlier. The Lions will be able to get an early lead and hold onto it with strong work from their forwards and backline.
