2017 Super Rugby Round 8 Betting Tips
The Super Rugby competition has been involved in a lot of headlines this week with the announcement the competition will be reduced to 15 sides next season. The Australian conference will lose one side with either the Rebels or Force to be removed. It doesn’t change our weekly tips, however, and we are back with our Super Rugby Round 8 Preview and Betting Tips below.
2017 Super Rugby Round 8 Betting Tips
Crusaders vs Sunwolves (Saturday 5.35pm AEST)
The Sunwolves could still be celebrating their way into this one, after securing their first win of the season. However, it won’t last long as the Crusaders are likely to put a huge scoreline on their Japanese opponents. The Sunwolves were able to claw their way back into the match after trailing early against the Bulls and they ultimately earned the one point victory.
Meanwhile the Crusaders enjoyed the bye and will enter this match fresh. They have a few stars on the sidelines and they won’t bother pushing for a return for this match, but they have proved their depth is arguably the best in the competition as they have remained unbeaten this 2017 Super Rugby season. We are predicting a white wash with a big scoreline to be put on the Sunwolves, but not as bad as their near 80-point loss in the opening round against the Hurricanes.
TIP: Crusaders to win at the line (-38.5) – $1.90 with CrownBet
Reds vs Kings (Saturday 3.05pm AEST)
The Reds will receive a boost when they enter this match with flyhalf Quade Cooper returning from a three game suspension. It comes at a perfect time after the Reds suffered their worst defeat of the season. They opened the scoring against the Brumbies but they weren’t able to keep the momentum going and take the most of their chances. They entered the second half locked at 10 a piece but it was one way traffic as they suffered a 33 point loss.
The Kings were involved in a 87 point contest against the Force but came out on the wrong side. It was a 5 point loss but showed they are capable of producing points. Unfortunately, it also put a microscope on their defensive incapabilities. We are predicting the Reds to put on a strong performance in this one with Quade Cooper playing a big role in a 20+ point victory.
TIP: Reds to win at the line (-16) – $1.90 with William Hill
Rebels vs Brumbies (Saturday 7.45pm AEST)
The Rebels will know their fate when they take to the field this Saturday against the Brumbies – they will either be eliminated from the competition or set to stay. It has been a disastrous season for them as they are the only team that is winless. They have only been competitive in a couple of matches and with the Brumbies entering this match on their best performance of the season, we can’t see them causing an upset or being in the game in this one. Players will have had sleepless nights this week with uncertainty surrounding them.
As mentioned above, the Brumbies ran away with the match against the Reds in the second half. they put on a clinic with the ball in their hands and it is a credit to the sides patience and development. They will be too strong this weekend, even on the road, as they run away with this one to cement their spot on the top of the Australian conference.
TIP: Brumbies to win at the margin (13+) – $2.35 with William Hill
