2017 Super Rugby Round 4 Betting Tips

Rebels vs Chiefs (Friday 7.45pm AEDT)

The Rebels have had a tough start to the season to say the least. They have been plagued by injuries before a ball was kicked and the side has been dropping like flies. They suffered two humiliating defeats at the hands of New Zealand opposition before a bye last weekend. Unfortunately for them it doesn’t get any easier as they face the Chiefs who are on the top of the ladder. The side will need to hold onto the ball and limit their turnovers otherwise the attacking Chiefs side will run away with this one.

The Chiefs earned a victory over the defending champions in their last start. The side raced out to a strong lead and made the most of their opportunities. Flyhalf Aaron Cruden is creating a lot of chances for his side and is playing some of the best rugby. All signs are pointing towards a whitewash in this one and we are sticking with that.

TIP: Chiefs to win at the line (-17.5) – $1.90 with William Hill

Hurricanes vs Highlanders (Saturday 5.35pm AEDT)

The Highlanders got the monkey off their backs on the weekend with their first win of the season. However, the side wasn’t able to impress as they only just escaped with the points. The side made a lot of errors and didn’t mount much pressure on the Blues. They have had a tough start to the season and this will be their fourth New Zealand opponent in the first four rounds.

Meanwhile the Hurricanes suffered their first loss of the season against the Chiefs last week. They had it easy in their opening games as they won their two matches for a combined 120 points. They were brought back to reality though when they faced the Chiefs strong defence. The side lost two players to yellow cards at different stages before they finally composed themselves with 20 minutes remaining in the match. However, costly errors led to them leaving it too late as they fell by 8 points. They will be looking to bounce back this weekend and we believe they will hand the Highlanders a big loss as their opponents haven’t looked as strong as in the past years.

TIP: Hurricaanes to win at the margin (13+) – $2.20 with William Hill

Waratahs vs Brumbies (Saturday 7.45pm AEDT)

The Waratahs return home from their South African trip empty handed after two big losses. First to the Lions and then to the Sharks last weekend. They leaked nearly 90 points in the two games and it is an area they definitely need to improve on. The side will be pleased with the performance of Isreal Folau who bagged a double but there aren’t many other players who competed in their two losses.

Meanwhile the Brumbies grabbed their first win but they did it the hard way against the Force. After opening the match with two tries the side went to sleep and were trailing 17-10. A call went their way and they were facing 14 men for 10 minutes which gave them the opportunity to earn the victory in front of their home soil.
This will be a big battle of the forwards and on paper the Waratahs have the advantage in that area and in the backs. They should be looking to make a statement to the rest of the competition in this one but they will continue to struggle to execute but fortunately for them they will do enough to earn a narrow win.

TIP: Waratahs to win at the margin (1-12) – $2.60 with Sportsbet
