2017 Super Rugby Round 13 Betting Tips
The 2017 Super Rugby season continues this weekend. We take a look at the best value matches for our Super Rugby Round 13 Preview and Betting Tips.
Chiefs vs Crusaders (Friday 5.35pm AEST)
Super Rugby round 13 starts with an absolute block buster. The Crusaders will face off with the Chiefs for the first time this season as they put their undefeated title on the line. They had their best test of 2017 last week against the Hurricanes and they were able to come away with a narrow victory. It was their defence which can be credited with the win as they held their opponents tryless. It is an incredible feat against arguably the strongest attacking side. They will need to repeat that effort to come away with the victory on Friday night.
The Chiefs will enter the match coming off a bye and they will have the home field advantage. The less travel and the fact they are fresh will be a huge boost. They have only suffered the one loss themselves this season as the New Zealand sides have all been strong. We are predicting Aaron Cruden to have a strong game and turn the Crusaders forwards around. However, we can’t see the Crusaders winning streak being snapped.
TIP: Crusaders at the margin (1-12) – $2.85 at William Hill
Force vs Highlanders (Saturday 7.45pm AEST)
The Highlanders will head into this one as clear favourites, despite two lacklustre performances in South Africa. In both occasions, they relied on late heroics to earn the victories – We still can’t believe their comeback against the Cheetahs. However, it does prove the side has a lot of heart and we believe they will be looking to improve on their slow starts and unfortunately for the Force it will come at their demise. The Highlanders have the ability to put point on the board quickly and their forward pack will put a lot of pressure on the Forces.
Meanwhile the Force will enter this match on the back of their third victory of the season. It was definitely their most impressive as they defeated the Jaguares on the road in Argentina. They dug deep in their 16-6 victory and were able to hold off dozens of attacks on their own line while they remained composed. We can’t see them pulling off another upset but the Force have proved for the last two seasons that they won’t lay down, especially on home soil.
TIP: Highlanders at the margin (1-12) – $2.80 at CrownBet
Waratahs vs Rebels (Sunday 4.05pm AEST)
The Waratahs pulled off one of the better comebacks in Super Rugby in their last meeting with the Rebels. The side trailed by 25 points at halftime but scored 32 unanswered points to take a seven point victory home. This time around they will be hoping for a better start. The side has improved in recent weeks but they still have been struggling to get positive results. They had a bye last week which will help their case but they need more out of their star players such as Michael Hooper and Israel Folau.
The Rebels have had a poor season, but they too have been better over the past month. They suffered a big loss against the Lions and Kings but other than that they have been competitive in their matches, which includes a draw against the Sharks. We believe they will put up a fight in this one, but ultimately the Waratahs will have too much class and they will pull away when it counts.
TIP: Waratahs at the line (-12.5) – $1.90 at Sportsbet
