2017 Super Rugby Round 12 Betting Tips
The Super Rugby season continues this weekend and we take a look at the best value matches of Round 12 and offer our Preview and Betting Tips.
Blues vs Cheetahs (Friday 5.35pm AEST)
We are predicting the Cheetahs to stick within the predicted margin for this match with the Blues given too much credit. The side is the lowest in the New Zealand Conference but is still one of the stronger teams in the league – if they were in a different conference there is an argument that can be made that they would be near the top. However, the side has shown flaws in different areas of their game and if the Cheetahs can bring a similar attitude to what they showed last week then the Blues will need to be at their best.
The Cheetahs almost produced one of the upsets of the season last week but they allowed the Highlanders to score three tries in five minutes to snatch the victory from their hands. The side has been inconsitent throughout the year and it is hard to tell which side will turn up. However, we are predicting the Cheetahs to enter this game with an attacking mindset and they will be able to score some points against the often vulnerable Blues attack.
TIP: Cheetahs at the line (+20.5) – $1.90 at William Hill
Crusaders vs Hurricanes (Saturday 5.35pm AEST)
Saturday begins with the blockbuster match of the round. The defending champions the Hurricanes, and arguably the best side from the last three seasons up against the undefeated Crusaders.
The Crusaders will return home after a two game trip to South Africa which saw them dismantle the Bulls and Cheetahs. The Crusaders have gone above everyone’s expectations as their new players are excelling while their experienced players are playing at a high level. The side has a strong forward pack and they will need to rely on that for victory as they are outclassed in the back line.
Speaking of back lines – the Hurricanes have arguably the best in the league and it is lead by Beauden Barrett. The New Zealand international has taken his game to another level every year for the past three seasons and he is a major reason for their success. He is nearly impossible to shut down as he has every characteristic you would want in a fly half, and more. We believe the Hurricanes will take this match as a big challenge and be the first side to hand the Crusaders defeat in 2017.
TIP: Hurricanes to win – $2.00 at CrownBet
Rebels vs Reds (Saturday 7.45pm AEST)
The Reds and Rebels will face off on Saturday night in an all-Australian match up. We aren’t expecting this contest to reach any heights but if the two sides come with attacking mindsets then the game could be interesting.
However, we are predicting both teams to be out to save face and earn a victory and that could mean a lot of penalty goals in this one. For this reason we are leaning towards the Reds to earn the victory on the road as they have more experience in their side, in both the backs and forwards. They will be able to apply the pressure to their opponents and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
TIP: Reds to win at the margin (1-12) – $2.75 at Sportsbet
