Best NRL Round 7 Betting Tips

Newcastle Knights vs Sydney Roosters (Friday 6pm AEST)

The Roosters will enter this match on the back of two straight losses, it will mean they are extra determined and they would have kept a hiding from coach Trent Robinson at training this week. The side was in the match against the Broncos until early in the second half when the flood gates opened. The side leaked a lot of points and it was disappointing for a side that has a lot of focus on its defence. Latrell Mitchell has been dropped with the 19-year-old replaced by antoher young centre Joseph Manu. We are expecting a completely different match this Friday night with Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary to right the ship.

The Knights have just one win to their names this season, and two over the past two seasons. However, that doesn’t appropriate reflect the effort and competitiveness they have put into their six games this season. They were unlucky to miss out on the competition points last week with the scoreboard flattering the Bulldogs by the end. We are predicting them to continue to put in a spirited performance but as they haven’t put together a full 80 minute performance, they will be punished when they lapse.

TIP: Roosters to win at the margin (13+) – $2.10 with Sportsbet

Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm (Saturday 3pm AEST)

The Storm suffered their first loss of the season last week against the defending premiers the Sharks in a grand final rematch. They will be disappointed to suffer another loss to them and they will be out to bounce back strongly. Cooper Cronk made his announcement last week which could have distracted the side as they made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes. We expect them to be error free this weekend as they return to the basics. They have the best defence in the competition and it will be hard for the Sea Eagles to crack.

Manly were poor against the Dragons on home soil last week after three straight wins. We were beginning to believe the Sea Eagles were the real deal but they showed their true colours in an important match. We believe they will improve but ultimately the Storm will be too classy.

TIP: Storm to win at the margin (1-12) – $3.00 with William Hill

Penrith Panthers vs Cronulla Sharks (Sunday 4pm AEST)

The Panthers and Sharks is arguably the match of the round with the pre-season favourites for the premiership taking on the defending champions. The Panthers were picked by many to lift the trophy at the end of the season but their performances haven’t reflected this. They have two wins from their opening six games and another loss would put them in a very poor position with a quarter of the season gone. Matt Moylan, Sisa Waqa and Peta Hiku return after being dropped last week for disciplinary reasons while Tyrone Peachey will make an earlier than expected return. They will boost the attack of the Panthers drastically.

Meanwhile the Sharks rollercoaster season continued as they earned the win against the Storm on the weekend. They have climbed into third spot on the ladder with their fourth win and despite off-field drama surrounding Jack Bird and where he will end up, he continues to play at a high level. We are predicting the Sharks experience and dominance in the forward pack to show through, as they earn a narrow win and sink the Panthers on the ladder.

TIP: Sharks to win at the margin (1-12) – $3.60 with Sportsbet
