South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters (Thursday 8pm AEDT)

The Roosters are big favourites heading into the match against their fierce rivals and rightfully so. They are undefeated to start the year and have been playing at a high level. Luke Keary is playing against his former side for the first time and we expect him to have a big match after starting the year strongly. The five-eighth has released a lot of pressure off of Mitchell Pearce and Michael Gordon has also proved to be a great signing. He has taken the pressure off teenager Latrell Mitchell who has been great in the centres.

Meanwhile the Rabbitohs are down on troop due to injuries and suspesnsion. The side is of course missing Greg Inglis who tore his ACL in round one but Alex Johnston has been a solid replacement at the back. Corey Walker has been exciting in the number six jersey while Adam Reynolds steers the team around the park well. However, we don’t believe the side can avoid making errors and create enough chances to trouble the Roosters. If they get off to an early start, the chooks could run away with this one.

TIP: Sydney Roosters to win at the margin (13+) – $2.30 with CrownBet

Penrith Panthers vs Newcastle Knights (Friday 6pm AEDT)

The Knights have played well to start the season and have been competitive in their two losses and picked up a victory. We believe the side will be much better this season but unfortunately for them we are predicting a wake up call to come against the Panthers. They have faced sides that haven’t been at their best and if the boys from the mountain can pull things together this could be a long afternoon for them.

The Panthers were weak in the opening round before they earned a huge victory against the Tigers a fortnight ago. The side was unlucky to leave without the competition points against the Roosters last week. In a huge boost for the team Bryce Cartwright returns to the side and he will no doubt cause havoc for the left edge defence of the Knights. Matt Moylan will be looking to get involved when he can and he will create opportunities. We can see the Knights putting up a fight for the opening 20-minutes but for the remainder of the match the Panthers will put on an attacking clinic.

TIP: Panthers to win at the line (-14.5) – $1.90 with William Hill + Over 42.5 points scored – $1.88 with William Hill

Brisbane Broncos vs Canberra Raiders (Friday 8pm AEDT)

This is arguably the match of the round with the Green Machine looking to back up their convincing win over the Tigers with a strong performance against the Broncos. The Raiders will be on the road in this one but expect their big men to get the advantage in the middle of the field. We are predicting them to lay a strong platform for their backline and they will be able to do damage from there.

Meanwhile the Broncos are unlucky to only have one win after their opening three games with their loss against the Cowboys coming in golden point while the Storm scored one of the luckiest tries you will see to come away with the victory. They were in those matches because of their defence and they will need it to be at its best on Friday night. Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt still haven’t returned to their 2015 and early 2016 form and the side is struggling to create opportunities. We are expecting a close game in this one but for the Raiders to cause the upset.

TIP: Raiders to win at the margin (1-12) – $3.60 with Sportsbet

Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys (Saturday 9pm AEDT)

The Cowboys suffered one of their biggest defeats of the last couple of years and they will want to be bouncing back strong against a fellow Queensland opponent. The side was without a lot of players due to injury and suspension and their loss to the Sea Eagles saw more players join them. Justin O’Neil and Kyle Feldt will be on the sidelines which will test the depth of the Cowboys backline. However, they do have Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan steering them around the side and the champions rarely let their side down. We especially expect Thurston to lift his game after a disappointing performance and Kalyn Ponga should improve in his second start in the fullback position.

Meanwhile the Titans earned their first victory of the season against the Eels. However, the Eels were awful in this game. They made a lot of errors and had no directio with Corey Norman on the sidelines. The Titans are in an injury crisis just as big as the Cowboys and while Ashley Taylor and Kane Elgey are terrific young halves, they aren’t on the same level as Thurston and Morgan and this will prove the difference in the dying stages of the match.

TIP: Cowboys to win at the margin (1-12) – $3.00 with William Hill
