Best NRL Round 3 Betting Tips
Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos (Thursday 8pm AEDT)
The Broncos were crushed in their last match as they went down to the Cowboys in golden point once again. The side played at a high level but they were lucky with a couple of calls including James Roberts’ final pass to Jordan Kahu, which resulted in a try. The side had plenty of opportunities to earn the win though and they blew it on a number of occasions.
Meanwhile the Storm put on another near perfect performance in wet conditions against the Warriors in New Zealand. It was the second match to start the season the side has had to play in torrential conditions and an argument can be made that it played into the hands of the Melbourne side. They are terrific at game management with Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk steering the side around and their buddy will be back this weekend with Billy Slater making his return. Cameron Munster will move to five-eighth to accommodate him and we believe the strong spine and home field advantage will contribute to a narrow victory.
TIP: Storm to win at the margin (1-12) – $2.90 with William Hill
Canterbury Bulldogs vs New Zealand Warriors (Friday 6pm AEDT)
Although this game is classified as an home game for the Bulldogs, it is the Warriors who will receive the advantage. The match is played in Dunedin and it will be a huge boost for the Warriors while it is the opposite to what the Bulldogs will be after because of their two losses to start the season. While their attack was better last week against the Roosters, they still didn’t create many clear cut opportunities and instead capitalised on the mistakes made by the Roosters.
Meanwhile the Warriors were competitive against the Storm in the opening half against the Storm. However, the loss of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck in the opening minutes to concussion proved to be costly as Tuiamalolo didn’t have the same impact. We are predicting the Warriors to bounce back in this one with Shaun Johnson primed for another strong performance while the Bulldogs will be without Will Hopoate at fullback.
TIP: Warriors to win at the line (-5.5) – $1.90 with CrownBet
Newcastle Knights vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (Saturday 4.30pm AEDT)
The Knights got the monkey off their back as they earned their first win in almost a year. They have equaled their total wins from last season and it is only the second game. The side is playing with a lot of energy and enthusiasm in both attack and defence we believe it will continue this weekend in front of their home crowd. Trent Hodkinson has had a strong start to the year while his halves partner Brock Lamb has been playing at a high level too, relieving some of the pressure.
The Rabbitohs had a slow start against the Sea Eagles but finished the match strongly to cruise to victory. Adam Reynolds was great at controlling the game while Cody Walker created opportunities for himself and teammates. Alex Johnston was strong as a replacement for Greg Inglis but he has struggled for consistency at fullback in the past. We believe the forward pack of the Rabbitohs will make its presence felt against the young Knights as they pick up a narrow win.
TIP: Rabbitohs to win at the margin (1-12) – $2.90 with Sportsbet
