2017 NRL Round 22 Betting Tips
The 2017 NRL season continues this weekend and we take a look at the matches with the best value for our NRL Round 22 Preview and Betting Tips.
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels (Thursday 7.50pm AEST)
The Bulldogs have had a season to forget and it is largely due to their inability to look dangerous in attack. They have scored the least amount of points by any team in the competition and rarely look like cracking open a defence. We can’t see them turning that around this weekend as they face the Eels who are coming off their best win of the season.
The Eels defeated the Broncos last week in a victory that puts them in with a shot of reaching the top four. The Eels trailed by 12 points after just 10 minutes and it looked as if it was going to be a white wash. However, credit to their halves pairing of Corey Norman and Mitchell Moses who steadied the ship and played an instrumental role in the side getting back into the match and going on to win it. We believe they will be the main contributors this weekend as the Eels earn the win but due to the Bulldogs strong defence, it will be a close match.
TIP: Eels at the margin (1-12) – $2.75 at Sportsbet
North Queensland Cowboys vs Melbourne Storm (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
The Cowboys will be hosting the league leaders the Storm on Friday night in what is set to be a block buster match. It is always exciting when these two sides meet but with Johnathan Thurston out fo rthe season we think the Storm will be able to cruise their way to victory. It will still be a tight match but we think the Storm are in such great form that they won’t be too troubled in this one. Melbourne will enter the match after defeating the Sea Eagles 40-6 in Cameron Smith’s 350th game. He helped orchestrate the win and the Storm will be too strong in this one.
The Cowboys are coming off a narrow loss against the Sydney Roosters on the road and it was their first loss since Thurston suffered the injury. The team will suffer back-to-back losses on Friday night.
TIP: Storm at the margin (1-12) – $2.90 at William Hill
Penrith Panthers vs Wests Tigers (Sunday 4pm AEST)
The Panthers will head into this one as clear favourites and for good reason. The side is on a four game winning streak and has won eight of their past 10 matches. We believe they will be able to cruise to a big victory with their attack thriving since Dylan Edwards was included in the team at fullback. Bryce Cartwright has returned and he will offer more in attack.
The Tigers are coming off a win last week but they won’t be able to do enough to earn back-to-back wins. The side has been inconsistent all season. James Tedesco will look to terrorise the Panthers’ defence but they managed to limit his opportunities in their 30-2 victory earlier in the season. We are backing a similar score line with the Panthers to run away with it.
TIP: Panthers at the margin (13+) – $2.20 at CrownBet
