The 2017 NRL season began with a lot of excitement and we are expecting the same this weekend. There are a few opportunities that have great value and we will attempt to highlight them in our NRL Round 2 Preview and Betting Tips.

Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury Bulldogs (Thursday 8pm AEDT)
NRL Round 2 begins with the Roosters hosting the Bulldogs. We are predicting the Roosters to kick off from where they left off last week and continue their attacking ways. They raced out to a huge lead against the Titans and if they can have a great start again this weekend against the Dogs then we can’t see their opponents having enough in attack to make a comeback.
The Bulldogs managed just six points last week despite dominating possession and they are facing a side with strong defence. The Roosters will have more in attack than the Bulldogs with Luke Keary looking like a great addition in the halves to play alongside Mitchell Pearce while Latrell Mitchell was exceptional in the centres.

Brisbane Broncos vs North Queensland Cowboys (Friday 8pm AEDT)
The blockbuster match of the round comes on Friday night with the Queensland derby. There is no love lost between these two sides and we are expecting another close match. Over the last two years the matches between the Cowboys and Broncos have been decided by less than a try.
The Cowboys will enter this match with confidence after their golden point win against the Raiders last week but they could be a bit sluggish after a long and grueling game so early in the season.
Meanwhile the broncos will have an extra two days rest and they opened their season with a victory against the Sharks. It wasn’t a perfect performance by the side but Anthony Milford and Darius Boyd both proved they are ready to fire this season. The Australian fullback found the perfect pass to finish off set plays on three occasions while the five-eighth Milford showed off his dazzling footwork to score a try. We are predicting the home side to narrowly edge the Cowboys in this one.

Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans (Saturday 3pm AEDT)
The Titans got off to a slow start against the Roosters in their opening round and it ultimately cost them. They were able to fight back in the second half but it was too little too late for them. We are predicting them to have a better start this weekend but they still have a lot of areas to improve. The young halves pairing of Ashley Taylor and Kane Elgey will need time to gel while Jarryd Hayne had little impact in the opening round.
Meanwhile the Knights almost suprised everyone by leaving New Zealand with a victory but they came undone in the final 10 minutes. It was a huge improvement in performance on last season and they should be even better on home soil this weekend. They were sharp in attack while their defence had improved but still wasn’t great. We have them upsetting the Titans in this one.

Canberra Raiders vs Cronulla Sharks (Saturday 7.30pm AEDT)
The Green Machine were very unlucky to not earn the competition points against the Cowboys in Townsville. They were without two of their backline stars in Jack Wighton and captain Jarrod Croker but were still very impressive in attack. Wighton returns this weekend and will bolster them.
Meanwhile the Sharks were flat to start off their title defence. They didn’t show the energy they had for the majortiy of last year and they could be in the midst of a hangover after the premiership success. It will be tough for them to rebound and turn things around in a short period of time. They are definitely missing sharpness in attack with Michael Ennis and Ben Barba no longer with the side while Valentine Holmes will remain on the sidelines. We are predicting a big win for the Raiders as they make a statement.
