The 2017 NRL season continues this weekend and we take a look at the best value match ups, taking into account how Origin will impact sides and offer our NRL Round 13 Preview and Betting Tips.
NRL Round 13 Betting Tips
Parramatta Eels vs New Zealand Warriors (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
The Warriors have one player backing up from Origin – Jacob Lillyman – and he was named on an extended bench. He should be right to play in the side but they have depth in the forward position. Meanwhile the Eels won’t be without any Origin stars as none were selected to represent their state. However, they will be without Michael Jennings and Corey Norman who are out injured.
The side was able to earn its first victory with Mitchell Moses in the side as the young halfback played an instrumental role in two of their tries in their victory over the Rabbitohs. The scoreboard definitely didn’t represent how much they dominated the match as they allowed two late tries to Alex Johnston. The side will need to muscle up in the middle of the field in this one to take advantage of their back line but it will be tough for them without Norman and Jennings.
The Warriors are coming off a convincing win over the depleted Broncos. They were strong in attack and Shaun Johnson took on the defensive line. We are predicting him to have another strong game as their spine improves and earn an important road victory.
TIP: Warriors to win – $2.25 at Sportsbet
Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane Broncos (Saturday 5.30pm AEST)
The Roosters and Broncos will have a lot of players backing up from Origin and whether NSW or QLD win will have a big impact on this game. Anthony Milford and Mitchell Pearce will be opposing each other in the halves in two straight matches and one will be full of confidence or down in the dumps.
The Broncos will be boosted by Andrew McCullough overcoming concussion to return to the side and his defence and work out of dummy-half will bring a lot to the side. Meanwhile Ben Hunt will have a game under his belt and will feel more confident in his hamstring.
Meanwhile the Roosters will be close to full strength for this contest and will have the advantage of playing on home soil. Luke Keary is coming off a great performance against the Raiders as he was instrumental in the sides comeback, however it wasn’t enough for them to earn the points. We are predicting a tight battle in this one but the Roosters to come out on top.
TIP: Roosters at the margin (1-12) – $3.00 at William Hill
North Queensland Cowboys vs Gold Coast Titans (Saturday 7.30pm AEST)
The Titans are outsiders in the Queensland derby but we are predicting them to cause an upset on the road in this one.
The Cowboys have had an inconsistent season and they will be hampered in this one with Johnathan Thurston on the sidelines. They have struggled without him in the past and we are expecting that to happen again. Lachlan Coote will need to be instrumental if they are to stand a chance but we believe they will be outmuscled in the middle of the field.
The Titans have had a lot of injuries disrupt their season but they are begging to return to full strength. The side is coming off one of its best performances in a victory against the Storm a couple of weeks ago. They proved they have what it takes in attack to match it with one of the best defesnive sides in the competition. We are predicting their forward pack to get the upperhand in this one and on the back of that Ashley Taylor will be able to work his magic. Nathan Peats and Jarryd Hayne will be backing up from Origin and will play a huge role in the victory.
TIP: Titans to win – $2.74 at Sportsbet
