2017 NRL Round 10 Betting Tips
The 2017 NRL season returns this weekend after club rugby league had a week off due to the representative round. We have you covered for all the weekend’s action with our NRL Round 10 Preview and Betting Tips below.
Canterbury Bulldogs vs North Queensland Cowboys (Thursday 8pm AEST)
The Bulldogs received another boost this week with the announcement Keiran Foran will be joining the club next season. While it doesn’t help them for this year, it will boost the morale and help make the players in the halves positions play at a higher level.
Josh Reynolds and Johnathan Thurston will be on the sidelines for this one as the long list of injured players for the Cowboys gets longer. However, Lachlan Coote and Jake Granville have been named to return to the side ini a huge boost. They have struggled without Thurston in the line up and his organisation, kicking skills and playmaking ability will be missed.
Meanwhile the Bulldogs will have Matt Frawley back in the starting line up and he has looked promising in his short NRL career. He has good organisational skills and marches the team around the park. Despite being named in the number 6 jersey we believe he will play a huge role in giving his halves partner Moses Mbye freedom around the park and he will look dangerous with the ball in hands. The injuries to the Cowboys forward pack and the loss of Thurston will see the Bulldogs steamroll them in this one.
TIP: Bulldogs at the line (-4) – $1.90 at CrownBet
Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors (Saturday 3pm AEST)
The Panthers enter this match with just two wins after the opening nine rounds. It has been a dismal start for the side that entered the season with a lot of hype surrounding them and they haven’t lived up to their potential. Nathan Cleary needs to take more control of the side and has suffered a bit of second year syndrome. He was a part of the City side that defeated Country in the representative match and being in the camp with other talented players should have helped build the halfbacks confidence and he could be set for a strong second half of the season. However, the Panthers defence has been their biggest issue and they have been steamrolled through the middle of the field.
The Warriors enjoyed their break after earning a one-point victory over the Roosters. The side is just outside the eight and a win here should push them into the top half of the ladder. They still have issues with their attack and they need to straighten up – if they are able to do this successfully this Saturday then they will carve the Panthers up. We are predicting a tight match but the Warriors to come away in a tight one.
TIP: Warriors to win at the margin (1-12) – $3.50 at William Hill
Newcastle Knights vs Canberra Raiders (Sunday 2pm AEST)
The Knights have been on the wrong end of some big score lines over the past three seasons and we are predicting them to suffer the same fate on Sunday. The Knights have been able to put up a fight in the majority of their matches this season and have ever been the better side in a couple but they have only registered the one victory. However, their were danger signs for the club last week when their defence was sloppy in the second half against the Titans. They leaked 32 points on the way to a humiliating defeat. They have lost two experienced players from their forward pack in Jamie Buhrer and Mitch Barnett and the side doesn’t have much depth to start with.
Meanwhile the Raiders have had a slow start to the season and could be in for a surge. They had a similar beginning last year and really kicked into gear heading into the origin period. They were pushed to extra time twice against the Knights in 2016 and we are expecting them not to take this game lightly. The big forward pack of the Green Machine will be able to set a strong platform for the backline to dominate. We believe this one will get ugly early and they will clear the line with ease.
TIP: Raiders at the line (-14) – $1.91 at William Hill
