2017 NFL Week 4 Betting Tips

September 28, 2017 by Posted in NFL Tips

The 2017 NFL season continues this weekend and we take a look at the three primetime matches televised in Australia and two other matches with the best value. Continue reading for our NFL Week 4 Preview and Betting Tips.

Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears (Friday 10.25am AEST)
The Packers were able to avoid an embarrassing loss last week as Aaron Rodgers lead the side to victory in overtime while the Bears also had success in overtime, as they secured their first win of the season.

Bear’s quarterback Mike Glennon has the second shortest average pass in the NFL this season. He hasn’t been able to impress thus far, despite earning their first win last week. The Packers don’t have the best defence but if they can slow Glennon down early, it will give them a big boost towards a victory.

Rodgers continues to prove he is one of the most clutch players in the NFL. He has had slow starts to contests this year with one touchdown and three interceptions in the first halves of games this season, but he has finished strongly throwing for five touchdowns in second halves and for no interceptions. Injuries are already beginning to compound for the Packers so they will need Rodgers to get off to better starts, it will help this weekend against a poor defence and at home.

TIP: Packers at the line (-7.5) – $2.07 at Sportsbet

Seattle Seahawks vs Indianapolis Colts (Monday 11.30am AEST)
The Seahawks have stayed true to their recent history, having a slow start to the season. The side has won only one of its opening three games and a lot of it comes down to the poor performances of their quarterback Russell Wilson. The superbowl winner showed a lot of promise in the pre-season but he hasn’t brought the form into the season. He hasn’t completed more than 60% of his passes in a game this year and his total QBR is ranked 20th in the league. However, he comes up against a Luckless Colts side at home and it’s a big opportunity for him to regain his mojo.

Jacoby Brissett lead the Colts to their first victory of the season and it was on the back of his running game and not his arm. He rushed for two touchdowns last week but he won’t have that same success against a strong Seattle defence. We are predicting the Seahawks to win this one comfortably.

TIP: Seahawks at the line (-13) – $1.90 at CrownBet

Kansas City Chiefs vs Washington Redskins (Tuesday 11.30am AEST)
Surprisingly, this could be one of the more entertaining games of NFL Week 3. The Chiefs have started the season perfect and have a lot of people believing they are superbowl contenders meanwhile the Redskins had a poor start to the season but Kurt Cousins got hot last week to lead his side to a dominant victory over the then undefeated Raiders.

Cousins was able to find a lot of space dropping short balls to his running backs and he threw for three touchdowns in the Redskins victory. He will have more trouble finding open receivers in this contest, with the Chiefs proving to have one of the stronger defences in the competition.

Alex Smith has often been criticised for his long range passing ability, however that hasn’t been seen this season. He leads the league with three touchdowns on passes thrown 30 or more yards down the field. It has been invaluable for the side to stretch the defence and allow for their running game to excel. The well balanced attack and strong defence will help the side earn a victory at home.

TIP: Chiefs at the margin (1-13) – $2.01 at Sportsbet

Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions (Monday 4am AEST)
The Vikings started the season strongly with a great performance from quarterback Sam Bradford leading them to victory. Then, disaster struck as he went down with injury, but Case Keenum stepped up last week and recorded one of the best games of his career. The quarterback threw the Vikings’ attack to 34 points against the Buccaneers and the defence did the rest.

Meanwhile the Lions went down in a tight battle against the Atlant Falcons. A couple of decisions went against them but their defence forced three turnovers from Matt Ryan and they still weren’t able to get the victory. The side is on the road this weekend but we are predicting them to force a lot of pressure onto Keenum and earn the win.

Atlanta Falcons vs Buffalo Bills (Monday 4am AEST)
Well who saw that coming? The Bills upset the Broncos last week in a huge way. Their defence out muscled the Broncos and it will need to be at its best once again to slow down the Falcons.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had thrown 309 times without an interception but he threw for three in quick succession last week against the Lions. He will be feeling more pressure this week against a stronger defence and he will need to be better. The Falcons will look to establish the running game earlier against the Bills which will open up plays down the field for wide receiver Julio Jones.

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been playing exceptionally well and he played a big role in defeating the Broncos last week. He was faced with one of the best defences in the league but controlled the game well and grinded out the victory. We like the look of the Bills but we can’t see them causing an upset on the road, but we do think they will come within the line.

TIP: Bills at the line (+8) – $1.90 at CrownBet
