2017 ICC: India v Bangladesh Betting Tips

June 15, 2017 by Posted in Cricket Tips

It will be a sub-continental clash in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy second semifinal when India take on Bangladesh at Edgbaston on Thursday, June 15th. With Bangladesh no longer a pushover and India looking as strong as ever, this match does promise to be a close affair.

Can India avoid the banana peel?
India topped their group consisting of Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka picking up two wins and a loss. Their loss against Sri Lanka was a surprise result although Virat Kohli men would admit that they were a little complacent. Barring that, their wins against Pakistan and South Africa were comprehensive.

Historically Indian sides are strong in batting and this side is no different. There is something about Champions Trophy and Shikhar Dhawan as the opener continues to flourish. Rohit Sharma is giving him good company at the top while Virat Kohli looks to have regained his form.

Probably for the first time, the Indian bowling unit looks very strong. In Bhuvneswar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami, Kohli has players skilled enough to make best use of the conditions. Spin attack will be in the hands of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who are probably the two most accomplished contemporary ODI spinners.

Bangla Tigers are ready to surprise
Their task is not going to be easy though as Bangladesh continue to build on their impressive gains from the past couple of years. It is a testimony to their strength that any win by them is no longer an upset. Tamim Iqbal, Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza – this is not just the golden generation for them but also the most experienced.

Bangladesh qualified second from the group comprising of England, New Zealand and Australia. They ran England close with a 300+ score but were lucky to escape with a point against Australia thanks to rain. This helped them in the final analysis as a win over New Zealand in the final league match propelled them further.

Key Players
Dhawan’s form and love affair with Champions Trophy makes him a very important player for India. For Bangladesh, Tamim’s aggression at the top could be the decider.

Bangladesh may have reduced the gap in recent years but India still hold the edge with a 26-5 record over their neighbors in 32 matches. The record reads 6-1 in neutral venues where the only time Bangladesh won was in the 2007 World Cup match.

These sides met in the warmups before the tournament where India comfortably thrashed Bangladesh. That match though will have no bearing although India start as favorites. At odds of 1.2 (William Hill), the men in blue are tipped to win.

TIP: India to win – $1.20 at William Hill

Dhawan at odds of 4.33 (bet365) looks good to be the best batsman for India. His form makes India favorites to score more in the opening partnership – odds of 1.57 (Ladbrokes).

TIP: Dhawan to be India’s top scorer – $4.33 at bet365
