2017 ICC Final: India v Pakistan Betting Tips

June 18, 2017 by Posted in Cricket Tips

This game stalls everything else across borders in India and Pakistan. Add London to the list too as Oval gets ready to host the final match of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Super Sunday will witness grand finale between these two subcontinental powers in what promises to be a thriller.

India’s route to the final
India topped their group consisting of Sri Lanka, South Africa and Pakistan. They had expected wins against Pakistan and South Africa although the reverse against Sri Lanka was unexpected.

In the semifinals, it was the turn of Bangladesh as the Indian bandwagon marched on. There have been chinks in their armor but India have put in performances worthy of favorites tab.

Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been in such fine form that the rest of the batting order is rarely getting a look-in. The trio’s form looms ominously for Pakistan although it also hands them an opportunity. Knock them back early and it could be their key to success.

Pakistan’s route to the final
Pakistan started the tournament as the least ranked nation and had very little hopes. Whatever little hope they had, must have vanished after the beating they took from India in the first match. That of course changed their outlook that resulted in straight wins over South Africa and Sri Lanka to book their semis spot.

The biggest surprise of the tournament – so far – came in the semis when Pakistan toppled England. Their domination was so complete that England never looked to get a toehold in the match.

Pakistan’s strength obviously is their bowling with Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan making it tough for opponents. Batting too seems to have come into right form at the opportune moment with Fakhar Zaman, Azhar Ali and Babar Azam picking up runs when needed.

Pakistan have traditionally dominated their rivals and the record of 72-52 over 128 ODIs is a testimony to that. Over the recent past though, their encounters are limited to ICC Tournaments. India’s record in ICC Tournaments is almost impeccable with a record 8-2 across World Cups and Champions Trophy matches.

India start as favourites at odds of $1.44 (bet365) but Pakistan could be set for changing their poor record against them. Back the men-in-green to complete their turnaround at odds of $3 (Ladbrokes).

TIP: Pakistan to win – $3 at Ladbrokes

Throughout the tournament, India made it a point to start cautiously. That makes Pakistan favourite to score more in the first 15 overs – odds of $2.30 (bet365). Kohli at odds of $2.10 (William Hill) tipped to score a half-century looks an enticing punt.

TIP: Kohli to score 50 – $2.10 at William Hill
