AFL Round 4
Last weekend saw some interesting results and some massive upsets in the AFL. We hit on just one of our tips last weekend due to the unpredictability of the round. We’ll be looking to bounce back in a big way this weekend as we preview and give our tips for Round 4 of the 2017 AFL Season.

AFL Round 3 Betting Tips

West Coast vs Sydney (Thursday 8.10pm AEST)
Sydney are in unfamiliar territory as they enter their round four match against the Eagles in Perth. Winless through their first three games, it’s almost a must win for the Swans if they want to keep their hoped of finishing in the top portion of the ladder alive. With a host of injuries including Kurt Tippet, Jarrad McVeigh, Isaac Heeny and Dane Rampe, the Swans have had to blood a bunch of youth through the first three games, but will be eager to get the experience back in the coming weeks.

After wins in the opening two rounds, West Coast stumbled last week against Richmond at the MCG. They have looked shaky at times in all three of their games, but will welcome a home tilt here against the Swans. The Swans have taken it to the wire in their last two matches, and given West Coasts air of vulnerability we like Sydney to cover here.

TIP: Sydney +17.5 – $1.91 at bet365

North Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs (Friday 4.20pm AEST)
Good Friday football has finally been introduced to the AFL with the Kangaroos and Bulldogs set to take part in the inaugural match. The Bulldogs suffered a tight loss in Perth to the Dockers on the weekend and will be hoping they can bounce back with a win over the 0-3 Kangaroos.

The Roos were unlucky in their loss to Geelong in Round 2 but were decimated by GWS on the weekend. It’s safe to say it’ll be a year of rebuilding for North Melbourne, but the prospect of their own Good Friday game should get them up and about here, however, Dogs should be far too strong at Etihad.

TIP: Western Bulldogs -22.5 – $1.91 at Ladbrokes

Greater Western Sydney vs Port Adelaide (Saturday, 4.35pm AEST)
After a disappointing loss to Adelaide in the first round, GWS hit form with two massive wins over both the Suns and Kangaroos to prove why they are premiership favourites in rounds 2 and 3. They’ll get a harder opponent here though as they host the Power who have been a surprise packet of 2017.

The Power started 2-0 but went down to cross town rivals Adelaide on the weekend in a fairly close game. Midfielder Robbie Gray has returned to his damaging best, already notching up 8 goals on the season so far. Really tough game to pick here and if it was in Adelaide I’d be tempted to take the Power, but in Sydney it’s hard to look past the Giants.

TIP: Greater Western Sydney 1-39 – $2.25 at Sportsbet

Collingwood vs St. Kilda (Sunday, 3.20pm AEST)
Both Collingwood and St. Kilda were able to get their first wins of the season over the weekend as the Magpies claimed a great win in Sydney against the Swans while the Saints stumbled over the line against the Lions at Etihad. The Saints have looked less than convincing in all three of their games so far, and almost let the Lions run away with the game on Saturday, they will hope to welcome back Jack Steven and David Armitage into the side this week to give them some much needed inside presence.

Collingwood look set to unveil prized recruit Daniel Wells this week after recovering from a calf injury. The Pies midfield has been one of the most dominant in the league with the likes of Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Treloar and Adams consistently dominating opposition midfields. The midfield has been the Saints biggest weakness to date so on form, Collingwood should control the game on a big MCG ground.

TIP: Collingwood 1-39 – $2.50 at bet365

Hawthorn vs Geelong (Monday, 3.20pm AEST)
Although Hawthorn are 0-3 and look like a completely different team to the one we saw win 3 premierships in a row, the Hawks-Cats rivalry is one of the best in the league and should produce another classic game on Easter Monday. The Hawks were woeful on the weekend, going down to Gold Coast by a whopping 86 points. Star recruit Jaeger O’Meara has been inconsistent, with only 16 touches on the weekend.

Geelong’s star duo of Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood once again carried the Cats over the line in a 29 point win over the Demons on the weekend. Dangerfield racked up 36 touches and kicked 3 goals while Selwood had 37 and 1 goal. These two teams have a knack of competing in nail biters, Geelong should win but it will be closer than most think.

TIP: Geelong 1-39 – $2.05 at bet365
