AFL Round 22
Tough weekend last week as we went 0-4 from our AFL betting tips for the first time all year. We’ll be hunting a bounce back week in the penultimate weekend of the AFL home and away season as we present our Round 22 Betting Tips below.

AFL Betting Tips Round 22

Adelaide vs Sydney (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
Arguably the two form teams of the competition will duke it our Friday night as the Crows host the Swans to open the round. They are the only two teams in the league to boast at least 7 wins from their last 10 matches and both come into the Friday night clash on a 2 game win streak.

Adelaide stars Rory Sloane and Taylor Walker both suffered minor injuries and will face a test to prove their fitness for the match while the Swans are likely to regain the services of skipper Josh Kennedy, which should be a massive boost to their midfield stocks.

It will be extremely interesting to see these two sides go at it on neutral turf in Melbourne in the coming months but over in South Australia, the Crows have opened as slight favourites. Adelaide need to win just one more match to lock up top spot so there’s a chance that Slone and/or Walker will be rested for this one before putting all their eggs in the West Coast basket next weekend. We like Sydney to get the chocolates here.

TIP: Sydney 1-39 – $2.63 at Sportsbet

Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide (Saturday 1.45pm AEST)
One of the few games in the round where both teams have a legitimate cause to play hard and win. After a tough loss to the Giants on Friday night, the Western Bulldogs will likely need to win their two remaining games to qualify for the 2017 finals series. They face off against the Power in Ballarat on Saturday in what should be an interesting clash.

Port Adelaide downed Collingwood on the weekend to keep their top four chances well and truly alive and with a few wins to round out the season combined with a great percentage could see them boost into the coveted double chance positions. The Power boast the best looking injury list in the league at the moment, with only Matthew Broadbent in doubt for this weeks clash. The Dogs on the other hand are absolutely riddled with injuries from top to bottom with Marcus Adams, Tom Boyd, Matthew Boyd, Tom Campbell, Dale Morris, Easton Wood and Jason Johannisen all likely to miss the clash. Jack Redpath will also miss through suspension.

The Dogs backline in particular is absolutely decimated. They have no big defenders with the loss of Adams, Morris and Wood and youngsters in Zaine Cordy and Lewis Young were bullied by the likes of Patton and Lobb on the weekend. Should be a big game for Dixon, Westhoff and co. in the Power forward line and we like them to end the Dogs season this weekend.
TIP: Port Adelaide to win – $1.96 at Sportsbet

Greater Western Sydney vs West Coast (Saturday 4.35pm AEST)
The Giants look back on track after a shaky middle patch of the season and should improve even more this weekend with the return of number one ruckman Shane Mumford from injury. The Giants were too big and too strong for an undermanned Dogs outfit on the weekend and it could be the case again here with West Coast key defender Scott Lycett out through injury.

We saw the Saints tall forwards get on top of the West Coast defence a few weeks ago, even though they struggled to convert, and if the form of the Giants big men is anything to go by they should have another good day here.

Giants still have their fair share of injuries with Jeremy Cameron, Tim Taranto and Devon Smith all likely to miss but they’ve been dealing with injuries all year and their depth is ridiculous. This is arguably the healthiest they’ve been all season and we expect them to have the wood over the Eagles at home.

TIP: Greater Western Sydney -27.5 – $1.92 at Ladbrokes

St Kilda vs North Melbourne (Sunday 3.20pm AEST)
After a loss to the Demons on the weekend, St Kilda’s chances of playing finals have likely been lost. They’ll need to win out from here and hope that a lot of other results go in their favour if they want to be playing football in September. They’ll get a good chance for a win Sunday though as they face off against the Roos for the second time this year. The Saints overpowered North Melbourne when they faced back in Round 13 and it should be a similar result here with the Kangaroos only playing for draft picks.

Ben Brown has been a shining light in an otherwise forgetful North Melbourne season so farbut the one thing the Saints have been terrific at this year is shutting down key forwards. Jake Carlisle is their likely best and fairest while Dylan Roberton is a chance for All Australian honours. Brown booted just one goal when the two teams met earlier in the year and with an injury list as long as my arm we don’t expect the Roos to put up much of a fight here.

TIP: St Kilda -17.5 – $1.92 at Ladbrokes
