2017-18 Ashes: 5th Test Betting Tips
Exceeding their own expectations, England managed a credible draw in the fourth Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Ashes is already won by Australia, but there is a sense of belief in the visitors’ camp that they can finally win a Test on this disastrous tour. However, their task won’t be easy, as they get ready to face Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from Thursday, December 4th.

Australia – another chance to dominate England
The draw at the MCG was just an aberration, as this series has been completely dominated by the Aussies. The first match at Brisbane saw the hosts win by ten-wickets and follow it up with a 120-run win at Adelaide. Then, the innings and 41-run win at Perth sealed the series for them!
No matter how much the visitors want to call it a morale-booster, Australia were never in danger of losing the MCG Test. David Warner (103 & 86) and Steve Smith (76 & 102*) were at their best, making sure that the inevitable will never happen!
It is tough to see the Aussies letting their guard down, which means the visitors have their task cut out!
England – light at the end of the tunnel?
England’s proverbial tunnel seemed endless, but the visitors miraculously found a way to rise above their problems. Alastair Cook stormed back to form with an unbeaten double-century (244*) that was the cornerstone of England’s domination.
However, they couldn’t break through the defences of their nemesis – Smith – and even rain breaks went against them. England, though, took great comfort in giving a tough fight to the hosts, irrespective of the result!
To have any chance of winning at the SCG, England need to add a bit of killer instinct to their game.
Stats
The SCG has witnessed 105 Tests so far, with the hosts enjoying a record of W58, D19, L28. The last six SCG Tests saw the hosts remain unbeaten (W4, D2) at the SCG. However, the record against England reads: P55, W26, D7, with the last five Tests seeing the two rivals alternate their wins!
Picks
Can England put an end to the Aussie domination? Tough to see that happening, as we believe that the hosts could storm to another win. Back the Aussies at odds of $1.67 (Ladbrokes).
TIP: Australia to win – $1.67 at Ladbrokes
