France v Romania - Group A: UEFA Euro 2016

2016 UEFA Final: Portugal vs France

After an exciting month of action where 24 teams across various groups and knockout matches whittled down to two, we arrived at the finals of Euro 2016. Hosts France and Portugal will clash for the honors at the Stade de France on Sunday, July 10.

France had one of the most talented squads in the tournament and were favorites for the title. The Didier Deschamps’ managed squad didn’t disappoint, although some victories were achieved by the individual brilliance of Dimitri Payet and Antonio Griezmann. Still the team has a stable look which is translating into consistent performances – as is evident from the semi-final win over Germany.

France is as yet unbeaten in the tournament and are huge favorites going into the finals. Griezmann is the top scorer of the tournament and looks red hot to score again. Hugo Lloris is a silent contributor under the bars with some sensational performances already. Watch out for the ever improving Paul Pogba who has already filled his cabinet with a host of trophies.

Portugal on the other hand had a nervy progress to the finals. They also are unbeaten in the tournament but their path was littered with draws. Three draws and a third place was enough to progress to the knockouts where they were expected to crash out early. They not just surpassed the expectations but rode on strong defensive performances to stifle opponents.

Their best performance was reserved for Wales in the semi-finals where goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani were enough to secure their progress. Ronaldo continues to be their main man but the way Ricardo Quaresma and Nani have scored important goals gives them hope. They tripped everyone’s predictions in the tournament and would be confident of doing it one more time.

A quick look at the sides will put France as favorites and deservedly so. They have enough talent to brush aside Portugal who have been lucky so far. Odds of $2.05 are being offered by William Hill on a France win in regular time which looks a prudent punt. Griezmann’s scoring record makes him a sure shot for being anytime goal scorer – odds of $2.62 with William Hill.

TIP: France to win in regular time $2.05 with William Hill

TIP: Antoine Griezmann to score anytime $2.62 with William Hill
