2016 UEFA Euro Quarterfinal Preview & Tips

June 30, 2016 by Posted in Soccer Tips

The stage is set for the quarterfinals at Euro 2016 and with some high quality games on the menu, there is going to be a lot of interesting action. We preview the matches in store for us below.

Poland vs Portugal

With a strong defensive unit that prides itself in letting very few goals into the back of their net, Poland is a team that should prove tough for any opponent. Their superstar striker Robert Lewandowski is yet to fire in the tournament but the Bayern Munich striker is too good a player to be kept off the scoring sheet for long.

Portugal has been relatively subdued in the tournament with performances that have not enthused their supporters. They reached the round of 16 with no wins to their name and even the extra-time round-of-16 win against Croatia was underwhelming. Poland has a slight edge in this encounter.

TIP: Poland at odds of $4.00 with William Hill

Wales vs Belgium

Wales have built their team around Gareth Bale and the Real Madrid forward has not disappointed with three goals so far. They struggled against teams that sit back but that wouldn’t be a problem against Belgium.
With many talented stars in the line-up, Belgium are one of the hot favorites for the title. They may not have had the best of starts to the tournament but they look to have regained their form in the last couple of matches. Belgium has enough talent to move to semis.

TIP: Belgium at odds of 1.72 with William Hill

Germany vs Italy

Easily the blockbuster clash of the quarterfinals stage. Current World Champions Germany may not have been at their best this tournament but are always dangerous in knockouts. They were easily the better side in the round of 16 and have cruised into this stage of the tournament.

Italy has surprised even their own supporters with terrific performances – especially against Belgium and Spain. As always their back line is impressive and make them a very difficult opponent. Italy should knockout another big gun.

TIP: Italy to progress at odds of 4.00 with William Hill

France vs Iceland

The hosts have managed to live up to their expectations and are riding high on the local support and the performances of Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann. They still don’t look entirely convincing but look tough to crack.

Easily the surprise package of the tournament, Iceland has been on a dream run that started way back with the qualifiers. Built around strong team ethic and a tough defensive organization, Iceland should give the hosts a run for their money. However, their fairytale should come to an end as France has a massive edge in this encounter.

TIP: France to advance at odds of 1.40 with William Hill
